Alecon is more of a budget hotel than a hostel. There's no kitchen, and the "common area" is more of a tiny dining room where breakfast is served. It was pretty clean and cheap for Valparaiso. The rooms are very colourful, cosy and spotless clean. Breakfast and Wi-Fi are included and there is a cable TV in the room. The owner (he speaks English fluent) and his family are very helpful and extremely cordial. He provides his guests with insider tips and funny stories about the city. We had a wonderful time there. A good, clean hostel with a central location close to many things. Alberto the owner is very knowledgable and does love his city, however he has a tendency to talk and talk and talk.
