Not sure this needs another review, but here is my 2 cents worth. This might strike readers as patently obvious, but this is a hostel, meaning shared baths, shared kitchens, a rather maze-like layout and lots of people around. Its a great place is you speak little Spanish, lotsa English, staff was helpful and very chatty in the patio at... More

I arrived in Santiago from Auckland in January 2012 as an exhausted 'round the world trip' traveller on route to Brazil. I was very much looking forward to getting home asap since i'd run very low on cash, energy and general interest in the whole traveling environment. I didn't speak a word of Spanish, I was alone (for the first... More

Arriving on a late night flight all I wanted was to sleep. Which was impossible since the noise coming from the night club next door made it seem like I was sleeping next to the speaker. Turned on the fan to drown the outside noise but it burned out in a few minutes. Oh, and there were hairs under the... More

A deserved a highly rated place. Just nice - plenty of communal and outdoor space, rooms good sized, overall a friendly and quiet place. Recommended. More

This place is clean, cooperative and courteous. We dropped in last-minute and they found a great room for the 3 of us. The Bella Vista neighborhood is centrally located and has the best selection of bars & restaurants. It is very walkable and tourist friendly. More

I adore La Chimba hostel. We originally booked for a few nights and ended up staying there for over three weeks. The hostel doesn't look like much from the outside, in fact we were very dubious about going in but it was late at night and we didn't have a choice. Once inside we were very surprised to discover a... More

My first hostel in South America, and for the value, i was blown away! Fantastic friendly english speaking helpful staff, outdoor areas great for socialising, with free wifi. Great location to nearby pubs and restaurants with 5 mins walk to the cable car up the huge mountain overlooking the city. And a fresh new pool table! Highly recommended. More

An amazing hostel for the price, one of the best hostels in south america. It has multiple outdoor areas to relax and drink with friends. Best staff we've come across on the continent, always willing to help out and lend advice. Really comfortable beds. It is located 1 minute walk from Santiago's best bar and club area. The hostel also... More

This was the first hostel we had ever stayed in! Didn't look very good on the drive there. Tall metal gates with spray writing all over & barbed wire around the tops. Scary first impression. Inside the hostel was OK. The first night was weird. My partner & I got very itchy, must of been bed bugs or something. Both... More
