The heating they say they have does not work, and ironically you have to listen to the noise of a motor which is told to give heating -which does not work- to rooms. Too squalid and dirty for a moderate place to stay, let alone a so called "4 star" hotel. Finger-thick dust on the furnishing, in the wardrobe. Weak... more

this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. around 80 dollars a night for a double. we made the reservation through the net, and included in the price which was 100 dollars a night, there was supposed to be a one half day tour of santiago and a half day tour of the wineyards. well, when we got to... more

The hotel is clean but it seems that the building hasn't been maintained too well as parts of the floor feel almost unsafe when walking. It's also a bit underfurnished. It would have been nice if there was a small writing desk or something to sit and use the laptop. The wireless internet is fast and I never had it... more

Booked this hotel because of it's location - and price. Only a couple of blocks away from the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral - a little stroll to find youself in the old centre and 2 metro lines within a 10 minute walk. Perfect for sightseeing and getting about. And shopping. Oh, and there's lots of ice-cream shops nearby... more

Needed a place to stay for one night and it was good enough for that but I would not want to stay for any length of time. It's location is very central (which is not the safest area at night) and it is good for sightseeing; however it appears to be quite run down. Although no major problems overall standard... more

Has seen better days, but safe, clean and friendly staff. Location is excellent for day time activities. If you are looking for nightlife I suggest you stay around Bella Vista. But over all good value for your money more

We stayed in the Espana for four nights. We found the staff to be very friendly and they spoke good English. The free breakfast was very good and filling. When we had to wait for a late night flight, they only charged us for half a day. There are two computers for free high speed internet. The rooms were large... more

My parents and I (a 26 yr old female) stayed at Hotel Espana in April 2007. We reserved our triple room despite having read mostly negative reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor, unable to pass up the great deal, but hoping for the best. The hotel’s public spaces (foyer, breakfast room, bathroom, internet room) were basic and slightly run... more

Contacted directly but they failed to ever come back to us. Out of necessity we asked for a room on arrival at the airport info desk. Our room was pretty shabby, the breakfast was piece of cheese and piece of cake..the whole place is just plain tired. BUT we had service from the reception staff that was far better than... more

The rooms are nothing fancy, however the service is amazing!! It was my first time leaving the US and they welcomed me with open arms (and I do not know spanish). They speak English very well and do their jobs with gusto. If we needed a cab they ask what time we wanted it and one would be there at... more
