Perfect location in the best part of Santiago, within easy walking distance of everything, and right next to Cerro Santa Lucia, which is one of the strangest and most beautiful parks I have seen. The staff is very kind and helpful, you feel like a special guest. Sebastion speaks perfect English, and is most helpful in any matter. The restaurant... more

The Hotel Foresta is located at the bottom of Santa Lucia hill in central downtown Santiago. It is a few 100 metres from the Bella Artes metro station and has great restaurants and bars nearby as well as the city centre, main square and Parque Forestal. While the building is old and the decor quaint, you can't beat the location,... more

We were delighted with our room at Foresta. Yes, the bathroom particularly was run down, but hey, there was great water pressure in the shower, the room was huge and well-furnished, bed comfortable, and you weren't paying a ridiculous price! The doorman and desk staff were really friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be beaten. more

We just loved the Foresta in the Barrio Lastarria. Were going to stay a couple of days but ended up staying a week. Walking distance to city centre, Mercado Centrale (a must see), close to metro stations and loads of great restaurants and bars around. Try Patagonia Restaurant - just fab - but the best of a list. The best... more

We arrived at the Santiago bus station without a place to stay. The hostel we walked to was booked, and the girl there called a dozen places for us before we were able to get a room at Hotel Foresta (the last room they had available). We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived - we had a two room suite... more

We stayed at the Foresta for 7 nights and it fit our needs perfectly. The price was definitely budget, but the service we received certainly wasn't. The staff was exceptional. They were very professional in appearance & demeanor and they were extremely helpful and courteous to us, despite our limited Spanish. Sebastian was especially helpful, going above & beyond his... more

On arrival at Santiago airport I was initially pleased to find a man holding a card with my name on it. The pleasure evaporated however when I discovered the hotel reception staff had obviously advised the taxi driver of my arrival and in return received a 'kickback'. If I'd realised this right away I'd have taken TransVIP and saved myself... more

Pros: Great location, reasonably clean for the price Cons: Management promised us a non-smoking room but ours smelled and had ash trays; management didn't turn the central heat on (in the middle of winter!) until 10PM ... they promised us a portable heater but it never arrived after following up three times; the hotel is really showing its age, carpets,... more
