If you like fancy accommodations, this is not the right place for you. On the other hand, if you enjoy art, rustic places and nice people, El Greco is perfect! The hotel belongs to a former artist... so it's a very interesting experience. It's pretty close to the commercial center of the city and the Llanquihue lake (the volcanoes included... More

Due to a problem with my booking for the Lakes crossing from Bariloche (Argentina) to Puerto Montt, I landed unexpectedly in Puerto Varas. Asking at the bus station, the El Greco was recommended to me as a fair priced hotel. It turned out to be a wonderful experience! Despite my awful Spanish, the hotel staff understood my problem and helped... More

This is a really very attractive hotel. The manager is an art school teacher, so the hotel walls are covered with nice works of art made by his students. Really nice to wander around! Ask for a room with a volcano view. The rooms are comfortable and the buffet breakfast is delicious. Don't hesitate, choose this hotel, you won't regret!

My husband and I spent two nights in the hotel and were very satisfied with the room and the attention. The hotel is beautifully decorated and has a lot of character. The breakfast is simple but sufficient. The location is excellent. It felt like living in a painting!!

We have stayed in 2 hotels in Peurto Varas, and this one was a little disapointing. It is in a great location, and has lots of character, it is like a little german wood cottage, with lots of art and collectables around. The wifi worked really well, which is great. However the room was freezing, and we turned the heater... More

Good points: Comfy bed Easy check in Good price (1 Friday night $78) Good location Off street parking (though only a few spaces) Breakfast was good Good, friendly staff Interesting decor with quirky vintage pieces and artwork Bad points: Found dirty towels in our room from previous occupants Shower did not work Bed sheets had permanent stains on them So... Hi, I was going to spend 5 days in the hotel and I spent 2, although desk people were nice, I couldn't get any sleep, the walls are too thin, and it was noisy, then the rooms have not proper black-out curtains so you get the light. Breakfast not good in my opinion. I mean you go to a B&B... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights. I liked the hotel. It's clean and nice, very close to main square. We had a room on the first floor. It was small, but it was a corner room with 2 big windows! I think that the price is a bit steep, because of specific design.

Like a lot of buildings in Puerto Varas, this hotel is constructed mainly of wooden panels (interior and exterior). This has it’s charm for a lot of buildings in Puerto Varas (in particular the old German mansions), but for a hotel it is not really that great, because the walls are thin and don’t stop any noise from getting into... I really liked this hotel. It had loads of character throughout with a warm, welcoming reception area. Throughout the hotel there was lots of wooden furniture which gave the feeling that you were in the Swiss Alps. There is lots of really cool artwork, antiques and distressed furniture throughout and we liked the bar area which was very inviting and... More
