We stayed here for 4days and 3 nights and for me it was just what we need. It's a 10-min walk from the Kallang MRT station and very near to food stores and groceries. Geylang might be tagged as the red district in SG but we never felt our lives are in danger walking at the streets at 11pm. The... More

The staffs are unfriendly and rude. Wifi is chargeable wherelse its from in most hotels i have been to even in Malaysia and Indonesia. The rooms are dirty and have a pungent smell(but called fragrance). That will be my last visit there. Not recommended more than 100%!!

Hotel is dirt cheap. Not going to lie. I didn't expect much from it but after experiencing such disrespect and rudeness, I hit myself with a hammer and wished never stayed at this hotel. Staff were NOT helpful at all. The boss lady in the morning obviously does not like her job because she frowns everytime a guest comes up... More

We stayed here 4 nights. The hotel have a very good location. There is a bus station near the hotel and Kalang MRT station is only 10 minutes walking distance. I think, the hotel is very safe, we hadn't got any problem with the neighbourhood. Room was clean, but a little bit small. They cleaned it every day. If you... More

A good budget hotel. Not new but clean and well maintained. Near the bus stop going to the city and around ten minutes walk going to nearest mrt (kallang). Food stalls are also around the area if you wanna try local Singapore food. The staff at the reception are very accomodating and friendly. I wanna thank Kirstin for the assistance.... More

Stayed in this hotel for one night. This hotel is located in the red-light district of Singapore. Area is very run-down and dirty. We found a place to eat around the hotel which had good local food. The room is tiny and the bathroom was pretty old and dirty looking. The shower and toilet are right next to each other... More

We had a very comfortable stay here for 2 nights. They even upgraded our room as we are regulars here. The staff were helpful and the room has had a refurbishment recently and was great. The lifts were good and the storage facility is a secure one for those who want to leave luggage for a few days and go... More

We have stayed in S'pore over a number of years and frequently in the Gelang Fragrance chain. Normally 1/3 of the price of central S'pore. Very recently, 1st time at the Emerald and no complaints. I would have rated this as Good as opposed to Very Good. The staff helpful, especially the always smiling Ghia, and were always ready to... More

We had booked this hotel on booking.com and got a good deal. For the price, it was a good option. The rooms are clean & tidy, but tiny. You cannot open more than one suitcase at a time, but i guess thats ok. Service was not good. We did not need much from the staff, but once my friends wanted... More

Staying in Geylang

Neighborhood Profile
Only a short journey from Singapore’s sparkling and polished city center, Geylang is a world away. Here in one of the least touristy areas of Singapore, visitors are privy to an unfiltered glimpse of Singapore life. On Sunday afternoons, migrant workers gather in Geylang to let off steam after a tough week. At the eastern end of Geylang Road, families and friends happily enjoy picnics. By contrast, at the western end, a more colorful side of Singapore can be seen, as street workers mingle with Sunday revelers in outdoor coffee shops. Take a friend, grab a beer and a local meal (frog porridge, perhaps?), and settle in to enjoy the show.
