We chose the suite room as it had a lounge area as well and windows and was spacious for a hotel in Singapore. Not located right in the tourist area however the MRT station Paya Lebar is only a 10 minute walk and from there you can go anywhere you wish. The hotel has been well renovated and the decor... I spent a day in Champion hotel when passing through Singapore. It was very satisfactory for me and my husband. Unfortunately there was no double bed but I know that on booking so we had twin rooms. There is a large shopping centre near by and a myriad of dining options. The price of the hotel is reasonable as we... More

Set about 15 minutes by train and a 15 minute walk from the centre of the city this hotel felt more like a glorified backpackers to us. The only bonus was we had our own bathroom and it was reasonably new. The room we booked unbeknown to us (and not specified in the room description we read) did not have... More

I spent a day and half in Champion hotel when passing through Singapore last week, and I think it was a good option for me. There are the pros and cons of the place: Pros: It is in a great location in the middle of a busy commercial area. There are a couple of large shopping centers and tons of... More

Really Good clean place and courteous staff. The room was prefect. I would stay here whenever I would travel again to singapore. MRT station is 10 min walk and Fairprice is right outside the hotel premises. They also have little fridge in the room.

Stayed for 1 night at Standard Room and Deluxe Room. The rooms were very clean, spacious for a budget hotel. I like the bathroom that is small but equipped. The hotel also has 4 free parking bays, just nice for someone who drive. It was a very good choice for us.

The room was pretty good and affordable. It's about 20 minutes walk from the MRT station. Good location as there were restaurants and food courts near the hotel. The hotel is probably around 20 minutes from the airport.

This hotel was a pleasure to stay in. It was clean and comfortable and was in a great location, close to shops and short walk to the MRT. The staff were friendly and helpful. The immediate area around the hotel is predominantly Muslim orientated so clothing variety is limited to these requirements and there are very few outdoor eateries that... More

I can never believe how hard it is to book a room in this hotel. It is always full otherwise only twin rooms available. So when we managed to book one, the stay was beyond expectations. The rooms size were just nice, very clean with the basic amenities required for a short stay. Among all the budget hotels I've stayed... More

There are some good eateries nearby. A supermarket is close. The property is clean and staff helpful. rooms a bit small for tall westerners. We figured what we paid for room plus taxi fares we were still in front.

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighborhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighborhood is packed with colorful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
