It is quite a challenge to find good clean decent accommodation in Singapore for less than SGD100. Champion Hotel was a good value find given that December is deemed high season for travel to Singapore. The hotel is clean with modern contemporary furnishing. Staff is friendly and suggested local places for us to eat near the hotel. Tip: if you... More

Champion Hotel (formerly Gateway Hotel) They say that our hotel was once the Gateway Hotel Singapore but it was renovated so the result is just like a brand new hotel now named Champion Hotel. It is located at the Joo Chiat Road area, close to the Joo Chiat Complex and within the vicinity of the Malay village. You can feel... More

I decided to stay at this hotel during my transit in Singapore. The hotel is located not too far from Changi Airport and compared to other hotels in the area with similar price like Hotel81 and Fragrance, this hotel is so much better. The hotel is newly refurbished so the room feels very new. Check-in and check-out were quick and... More

The hotel is nicely renovated with a stylish design inside. It can be easily reached from the airport by a direct bus 24 (just be aware that bus driver does not give change) getting off at Joo Chiat Complex (ca. 35mins). The nearest metro station is located within 15 mins walk. Upon arrival 3 hours earlier than available check in... More

I wanted a hotel close to the airport for the 16 hours I was in Singapore prior to a morning flight. I was not prepared to pay too much and Champion Hotel fitted the bill. The room was clean, comfortable, a good size and provided a good shower and toilet in a separate bathroom, and safe in the room. Desk... More

At first glance, I didn't expect much thinking it's a small hotel. They have a nicely decorated lobby which most hotels do not really bother to have. I can tell they did put in an effort. Staff was pleasant and really quick to help out. Beautiful corridor that makes me feel I am in an apartment! The room has a... More

Perfect hotel with good value for money. Not too far from the airport, so if you need a hotel for a night between you flights, I would suggest to consider this hotel. Very nice size rooms, nice bathroom, stylish, clean and fresh. Lots of restaurants around, residential area the hotel is very quite and clean.

Fast wifi connection, about 1km to Payar Lebar Mrt, east to get food, just across the street you will get hawker center. Hotel rooms is clean, provide all toiletries, and the hotel staff are friendly too. Would stayed here again, thank you Champion.

Stayed at champion hotel for 3 nights (early October) and loved the place!!! Stepping in from a long flight the hotel and staff are so welcoming, the decor in the hotel is beautiful with lots of comfy places to sit and the attention to detail in the design really shows! We stayed in the deluxe double room, everywhere was clean,... More

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighborhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighborhood is packed with colorful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
