Was a little worried at first after booking this place because it was so much cheaper than the other hotels in Singapore and heard some 'interesting' things about geylang area. but trust me you wont be disappointed with this place. Its a small, comfortable room that is just the right size with a neat bathroom thats larger than expected. No... More

My fiance and I arrived at the Champion hotel to be greeted at reception, told our room number and went up the lift to our room. The hotel is nicely decorated very modern looking and bright colours. They had a vending machine downstairs as well as 2 computers for guest use, and seating next to the lifts. Our room was... More

Booked this hotel based on the affordable price compared with other hotels nearer the main city area. Ignored reviews suggesting it was difficult to access transport from this part of town and found that actually it was really easy! A brisk 10 minute walk brought you to Paya Lebar MRT station which takes you direct to the central areas or... More

This was one of the more affordable hotels for my parents, I wanted to be close to the train line. I'll go over the pros, one of the staff was really nice to let me stay free in my parents' room after I had to check out early from a bad guesthouse in another part of town. Of course we... More

We chose Champion Hotel as we were were in transit between Africa and New Zealand and wanted accommodation in close taxi distance from Changi Airport. The Champion Hotel proved to be exactly what we needed. It is modern, clean and attractive. It is well lit and nicely decorated from the lobby to the rooms. Staff were attentive and pleasant and... Affordable and conveniently located around food places in Joo Chiat. They do not serve breakfast though. Compared to other 2-3 star hotels in Singapore, Champion hotel's rooms are more spacious. The bed is okay and the rooms are clean as well as the bathroom. Location is not very near town but if you don't mind walking, you can get to... More

This hotel offered the best value for your money. We stayed 2 nights in this hotel and have the room near elevator. So we can reach bed faster after a long walk in the downton. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I asked information about rental car and they give me very useful information. Unfortunately, if you book a... More

We have stayed at the champion hotel for 2 nights with our family. The hotel has a relatively good location in a quit area (about 10 to 15 mins walk from the Paya Lebar MRT station). It is modern, very clean and comfortable. The shower was the best we had from the 8 hotels we have visited during our roundtrip.... More

Stayed here for 2 nights on a stopover to Australia. We had travelled overnight from London so was very tired. They allowed us to check in 6 hours earlier for a discounted early check in price. The room was lovely exceptionally clean with a small fridge. Toiletries provided and bottles of water in your room. As other reviews say a... More

Great for the money, out of down town, but not too far from fabulous MRT system, this hotel is about a 10 min walk to Paya Lebar MRT( the most amazing easy way to get around Singapore, bought a 3 day pass to use any of the public system, such a safe clean rail system. Once you work it out,... More

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighborhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighborhood is packed with colorful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
