We were looking for a cheap hotel for one night as not arriving in Singapore till 1am. Everything about this place was very good, except the size of the room. There really was no where to put your luggage. It was very clean and beds comfortable. Would maybe liked to stay another night as a very interesting area. Found the... More

Great hotel for those on a tight budget. Rooms are clean (recently renovated), and found the staff to be polite and responsive. The rooms are very small, but I prefer small and well maintained, over larger rooms that may compromise in other areas.

This hotel was a fairly lengthy 1.5 kilometre walk from Paya Lebar MRT railway station. Checkin was efficient. We had a second floor room with a window next to the lift but apart from some very loud Austrealians at 0430 did not hear a thing. The room has an unusual electronic safe in a desk drawer that is not very... More

We needed a hotel room to take a quick nap. We got there around 2am and booked this small, cheap room. However, it was clean and decent considering the small room size. This hotel has no luggage space and is very small! It is a quick one night in and out hotel.

this place is a good price for what it is. the rooms are small and you need to ask for a window but if you dont have too much stuff to spread out and just need somewhere clean and convenient to sleep this will do you fine. the area is a bit seedy at night but has lots of local... More

I stayed a couple of nights before moving to a hotel in the city. I like Venue the Lily and got a very good price on a small twin room. As a solo traveller I found it good value, nicely decorated and clean. This area of the city is great to wander around, and it's not too far from 112... More

I have stayed in this hotel numerous times. It is really accessible to town and located in Joo Chiat Road means you are really near great food in the area. 5 minutes walk to Geylang Serai, you will find the best of Malay cuisine and culture. 10 minutes walk towards the opposite direction, you will come to East Coast Road,... Smallest room I have ever seen. No windows. It's literally a box. The drain was blocked so I was basically showering in a puddle of dirty water. The receptionists weren't all that friendly either. Had about 5 luggage and 4 carry on between 4 people and they didn't even bother to help us or show us to the room. When... More

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighborhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighborhood is packed with colorful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
