What a nice place. We just stayed one night, but would have stayed longer if it had suited better in our plans. Big and clean room with thick matresses. Great facilities. Nice kitchen, big fridge with icecubes for everybody. Nice living room with tv for movies, pool table, a lot of tables for eating, friendly staff. Really recommendable!

We stayed at Betel Box hostel at one night. It was a great place for us just for sleep because our flight arrived late afternoon and next morning we had to be again at the airport. We had family room. Room was quite big and clean with shared bathroom. There was also aircon but no towels (you could rent one).... More

Had to stop in Singapore for one night whilst on my way to Vietnam and had the pleasure to stay in this hostel. It had a nice vibe to it. It was clean and the price was reasonable. Plus the owner Tom was really helpful and has a good knowledge of local sights, businesses etc. I would recommend for sure

I stayed in this hostel, in the 20-bed dorm, but it does not feel packed at all. The room is cleaned, the toilets as well, the common room is cool. The only problem I found is that the dorm did not have any charger for the phones, which was a bit uncomfortable every time I needed to charge my phone.... More

It's a nice hostel and the staff is great. I stayed in the 8 bedroom female dorm and I loved it. It was cleaned and neat. The bathrooms were also cleaned. The fee we payed included breakfast and I don't regret it at all. The hostel is not located in the city center, actually the nearest metro station is 15min... More

I love this hostel! I spent a week there when I was traveling Asia. I loved it so much I went back for another week just to hang out. While I was there, I experienced a weird situation with another customer. The owner did not hesitate to make my personal safety his highest priority. I felt totally welcomed and safe...... More

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighborhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighborhood is packed with colorful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
