This hotel is located exactly at the corner of Chinatown. It is only a few minutes by train to the gardens by the bay and half an hour in a taxi to the zoo. The room is very cramped (even more than expected for the price) The bathroom is very small and the lack of a window in such a... More

I was so much happy to access to Hotel81 very easy by SMRT's northeast Line and getting off at China Town station's exit E. Furthermore, you can find lots of food & beverages around the hotel such as Maxwell, China Town food street, or the stores at underground of People's park building - it's so cheap & pleasant. For sight... More

Pros: 1-2 minutes away from MRT station. 2-3 walk from streets full of shops. Great affordable restaurants nearby. Shopping area full of Filipino stores and food across the street about 2 minute walk. Cons: Wi-fi coverage though the building could be better.

Cheap for Singapore - though you still get very little for your money. Small room, air con doesn't switch off, weird fake leather bed. Don't stay here without bringing earplugs. No sound proofing at all - able to hear guests drying their hair from the other end if the corridor, not to mention the traffic. Cleaners start cleaning at 7am,... More

Lively china town has lots of night activities such as great restaurants, china town street shopping, 24 hours hangout place, spa & relaxation center and so on. Don't forget the long queue money changer shop in people's park, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. MRT is right in the heart of China Town, makes it easier to hop on the MRT to... More

Needed a simple, convenient hotel for a couple nights. Hotel 81 Chinatown fit the bill. There were 2 of us: father and adult son (18 yo). The room was very compact (read: small), but clean and quiet. The front staff were really helpful and even stored some smoked salmon we brought in their fridge... No mini bar or fridge in... More

I booked a superior room and I think the room is actually built around the double bed. This is because there is only about 6 inches on three sides of the bed with the small dresser at the end of the bed. There is no wardrobe, a few hooks is available. And there is no safety deposit box in the... More

We stayed there for twice but not really like it. Room too small and too noisy from the street. Internet no free and the staff service no good ( sounds like don't bother) and I felt that very fake smile. :-(( Can't say as the budget hotel as the hotel charge rate almost similar to the 3 stars hotel.

I gave 3 stars only for the position. The staff was quite gentle but not always helpful (asking some sightseen other the commercial ones they told me marina bay sands and the ferrish wheel :/, really??). Room quite clean. BUT room TOO MUCH SMALL and WITHOUT window. The rooms with windows are actually without as u can't open them.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
