Pretty average stay based on Singapore hotel standards. The name hotel81 used to be synonymous with budget hotels, but this wasn't the case with the Chinatown hotel. Pricing is a little on the high side Without much facilities to enjoy too. The location however was great as its near mrt station. Do note that there isn't any car park at... More

We have a 12 hour layover in Singapore and we decided that instead of waiting at the airport, we rather tour a bit of the city and check in at a hotel to wash up and feel refreshed. The people at Changi Airport were so wonderful to find us some reasonable priced hotel downtown. Since we figure that we would... More

after reading mix-review, we decided to journey this Chinatown hotel; and it was a right decision. simple and fast entry with very kind receptionist. since we planned to spent most of our time outside hotel and coming back at almost mid-night, we didn’t really mind the size of room; most importantly the room is clean. location is great, just some... I like this hotel and staff. Everything is good in the hotel, and also I sleep very well during my stay. The staff over there is nice and friendly especially Paul with two smiling dimples. If I have much time, I would like to come back to the hotel with business trip in the future.

I have stayed in Hotel 81 for 14 days.It was a pleasure for me to stay here. The reception named by PAUL was very kind, sincere and helpful staff. It is very important to find a nice, clean and welcoming place in Singapore. I'm very glad and thankful that i met Paul and Yuming. Wish the best luck to them!

This hotel is located exactly at the corner of Chinatown. It is only a few minutes by train to the gardens by the bay and half an hour in a taxi to the zoo. The room is very cramped (even more than expected for the price) The bathroom is very small and the lack of a window in such a... More

I was so much happy to access to Hotel81 very easy by SMRT's northeast Line and getting off at China Town station's exit E. Furthermore, you can find lots of food & beverages around the hotel such as Maxwell, China Town food street, or the stores at underground of People's park building - it's so cheap & pleasant. For sight... More

Pros: 1-2 minutes away from MRT station. 2-3 walk from streets full of shops. Great affordable restaurants nearby. Shopping area full of Filipino stores and food across the street about 2 minute walk. Cons: Wi-fi coverage though the building could be better.

Cheap for Singapore - though you still get very little for your money. Small room, air con doesn't switch off, weird fake leather bed. Don't stay here without bringing earplugs. No sound proofing at all - able to hear guests drying their hair from the other end if the corridor, not to mention the traffic. Cleaners start cleaning at 7am,... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
