Hotel 81 Orchid is not a spanking boutique hotel- it is old and the rooms have no sound-proofing whatsoever. I wasn't able to sleep the 3 nights I stayed there with my bff. You could here people talking, shouting, screaming til the wee hours of the morning on the entire length of my floor.!!! The cleaning attendant or whoever was... More

Nothing pleasant about this hotel, even though no smoking is permitted in the building the whole building reeks of smoke. There were cigarette holes in the bedding, rooms were old and tiny, my parents in law had to get book another separate room as it was too small for the 2 of them. Staff were rude and unprofessional, tried to... More

We had stayed at the this hotel last June,2015 with family and friends at family room and twin room,Room is okay, with excellent WIFI at the 8th floor. Good thing that a family room has a personal refrigerator set up,for me to store food for my children. No slippers even upon request. Nice to stay here just a few walk for the... More

The room is clean and provided with basic toiletries. Have teeth brush but no toothpaste. No slippers provided so will feel cold when with bare foot. Wifi signal is good on first day but a bit slow on second day. Nearest MRT is Kallang/ Aljunied. the hotel just 2 bus stop away from the above MRT but have to walk... More

We had booked a family room- but they had sold out, so we were offered 2 normal rooms on seperate floors! Not a great start. The rooms were pokey- no wardrobes or space even for luggage. Very basic rooms- not even a fridge in a normal room, they were advertised in the family rooms. Very small bathrooms- nowhere to store... More

Very standard hotel but by comparing the price of hotel prices in Singapore we have to think the logic is reasonable hotel located in the area of prostitution for a man who was alone and did not want to get involved with the suggestion I should not be too late when you are around the hote

I read that it was an average budget hotel... Believe me i went to better "average budget hotel": this hotel is old, you can hear everything from all the rooms around (and since they have prostitute in the neighborhood you can imagine), the TV was not working, no breakfast... I would not say is the worst hotel, since the location... More

This hotel is super super super small and the staff are selfish and stubborn . This hotel is misleading and false advertising ! The hotel room air conditioner is the worst of the worst . Overall for a budget hotel, you better off sleeping outside at a park .

It’s OK for a typical budget hotel. Nothing fancy or outstanding. Some guests were quite noisy and inconsiderate slamming their doors and talking loudly into the night with their doors opened. Near food and transport areas.

Staying in Geylang

Neighborhood Profile
Geylang
Only a short journey from Singapore’s sparkling and polished city center, Geylang is a world away. Here in one of the least touristy areas of Singapore, visitors are privy to an unfiltered glimpse of Singapore life. On Sunday afternoons, migrant workers gather in Geylang to let off steam after a tough week. At the eastern end of Geylang Road, families and friends happily enjoy picnics. By contrast, at the western end, a more colorful side of Singapore can be seen, as street workers mingle with Sunday revelers in outdoor coffee shops. Take a friend, grab a beer and a local meal (frog porridge, perhaps?), and settle in to enjoy the show.
