Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Location was very good -- great restaurants nearby, 10 minute walk to the train, direct train line to the airport and also close to downtown. Room was dingier and dirtier than the hotel's pics online -- burn holes in sheets, stains on curtains and towels, hair and dust on floors, mold on bathroom ceiling... More

Geylang is the only place in Singapore where you can find a cheap hotel. There are many that are horrendous where you are better off on the street. This hotel was cheap (on agoda.com) Room was clean Room a fair size Bathroom in a good condition. For 50 sing dollars you are not going to get luxury. But you do... More

This hotel of the chain is located right in the heart of the Red Light Area of Singapore. This hotel also appears to be regularly used for the same reason! Not the best feeling if you want to stay here, right? The rooms are smelly at times, while cleaning is regular the smell wont go away! Staff at the reception... More

We stayed 5 nights and if being honest it was one of our only choices, we wanted a private bedroom with ensuite and we got it, it's overpriced but so is all of singapore so in relative terms it's cheap! Rather dated inside, staff were fine but far from friendly, Internet worked most of the time but incredibly slow and... More

I booked a room in this hotel unexpectedly after my original hotel messed up my booking. Being near to my purpose in Singapore (Singapore Indoor Stadium), I didn't mind that this hotel is located in the red light district of Singapore. Beerhouse left and right, prostitutes outside the hotel 24 hours a day, I didn't mind those at all BUT...... More

Staff not too helpful or friendly. Hot water ran out fast. Clean and comfortable. Central to bus and train. In red light area. Price good. Would go there again if needed Unable to use 1-800 numbers. A/C was good.Room smaller than my cruise ship cabin.

You can't complain about apartment size in Singapore, so prepare yourself before you check in here. There's a slim passage to walk around the bed, and the bathroom is a bit cramped, but it's enough to get a good night's sleep. Aljunied MRT station is about a 10-15 minute walk away, and from there you're only 10 minutes away from... More

Perfectly fine hotel if you don't mind prostitutes on the street nearby in the evening. Room is basic but clean and satisfactory. Only problem is you can't open the windows. Staff was friendly and helpfull. Area around hotel is perfectly safe, full of restaurants. I would stay here again if I want a cheap option.

Hotel 81 is a chain of cheap hotels situated in Gaylang, Singapore. These places are definitely no frills, as you get a small room with a comfy, clean bed and a small bathroom. Good aircon. Only one plug socket which is a bit of an issue, reception didn't rent the extensions. So if you plan to charge your devices, you... More

I am a regular traveler to Singapore and was surprised to find this little gem... good location, and surprising value but it was the staff and their helpfulness and friendliness that made this stay a real treat. I booked on line and have had some shockers but this one is real good value.

Staying in Geylang

Neighborhood Profile
Geylang
Only a short journey from Singapore’s sparkling and polished city center, Geylang is a world away. Here in one of the least touristy areas of Singapore, visitors are privy to an unfiltered glimpse of Singapore life. On Sunday afternoons, migrant workers gather in Geylang to let off steam after a tough week. At the eastern end of Geylang Road, families and friends happily enjoy picnics. By contrast, at the western end, a more colorful side of Singapore can be seen, as street workers mingle with Sunday revelers in outdoor coffee shops. Take a friend, grab a beer and a local meal (frog porridge, perhaps?), and settle in to enjoy the show.
