Decent hotel, very cheap for expensive Singapore. Easy access to MRT stations, local street foods are on the main road which is a minute away. Professional and friendly reception. Was there only for two days and we didn't ask for housekeeping so can't comment on that. Rooms are bit tight and bathroom is very tiny. But they are clean. I've... More

This Hotel had all the essentials and was very clean and the rooms were well priced for Singapore. The hotel was close to public transport. Stayed five nights and admittedly was out sightseeing for most of the time so it was a place to sleep with small fridge and electric Jug. As others have noted the location was in the... More

Modern hotel. Clean, minimalist, fairly spartan, but comfortable and cheap. Ten minute walk to MRT. Local area is somewhat déshabillé, both in character and fact, with surrounding streets having little but brothels. But it felt safe (as all parts of Singapore) and colourful at night (literally). Would stay again but not a family style neighbourhood.

This hotel has clearly been refurbished recently, and this has been executed well, with no real signs of old stuff being re-used in the rooms. Like most other reviews mention, the hotel is located on a street full of brothels, though these only open up from around 16:30 onwards. I did not feel threatened in the area, though I noticed... Stayed at Hotel 81 star in March. This was first time in Singapore. The hotel was very easy to find - about 10-15 minutes walk from Aljunied MRT. (This stop was also about 10-15 minutes into the central business district area.) Therefore, a great location. I only paid £30 a night - excellent value for money. In the area there... More

Not far from Aljunied station around 10mins walk distance. Normal room and quiet small but comfortable. The area is really noisy and it is red zone. Really busy in the night time. Many restuarant around and close to Bus stop. It''s not good area for a girl backpacker. Many girls are so annoying if you look like asian, they will... More

This hotel has just upgraded the facilities and it looks nice. The staff are very helpfully and they provide you with the best service. The location is also pretty good, since you have the MRT station just 7 minutes away and the bus station is closer. This make is easy to get transport to the central Singapore.

POSITIVES – Good price for Singapore, like a new travel lodge, everything you could want, impressive room design. NEGATIVES – Not much – no soap in hand basin. SUMMARY – Overall I was very pleasantly pleased with the hotel and would recommend it for very serious consideration. Read on about location. DETAILS I stayed for 3 nights in February 2015.... More

The hotel is 10 mins walking from Aljunied MRT station, on the East West line that goes to Changi Airport. It is quite cheap by Singapore standards but my room was spotless. Fridge, TV, kettle with tea/coffee and complimentary water. I was disappointed by the wifi (regularly disconnected and slow performance) and the fact that I could hear other patrons... More

I slept there for 2 nights and the Hotel was very clean, the Staff friendly and the location is ok as well if you don't care about living in the red light district. But for the price you can't complain, right!!!

Staying in Geylang

Neighborhood Profile
Geylang
Only a short journey from Singapore’s sparkling and polished city center, Geylang is a world away. Here in one of the least touristy areas of Singapore, visitors are privy to an unfiltered glimpse of Singapore life. On Sunday afternoons, migrant workers gather in Geylang to let off steam after a tough week. At the eastern end of Geylang Road, families and friends happily enjoy picnics. By contrast, at the western end, a more colorful side of Singapore can be seen, as street workers mingle with Sunday revelers in outdoor coffee shops. Take a friend, grab a beer and a local meal (frog porridge, perhaps?), and settle in to enjoy the show.
