When returning from a holiday in Vietnam we organised a four day stay in Singapore. We wanted to experience a more authentic Singapore than Orchard Road so we booked into the Perak Hotel in Little India. This hotel was just what we wanted, it was close to two "people mover" rail stations, Bugis and Little India, it was within walking... More

We have just spent 6 nights at the Perak moving on to Hanoi today. I can recommend this boutique hotel in every way. Converted traditional shophouses, it is low rise and has historical ambience. It makes a refreshing change from all the rather soul-less high rise, modern hotels which are everywhere at up there prices. This hotel is so clean -... More

The guy who works here had won me over within 2 minutes of arriving. He was warm, helpful and funny. The rooms are comfortable, with wooden floors and powerful AC. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Little India - cheap curry and friendly faces. The only downside to this hotel is the nightclub next door. I was... More

It was the first time our family went out of the country, so I was really looking forward to a cheap yet convenient place for us to stay, at least for the first two nights. We stayed at the Sentosa Festive Hotel on the last day. I was choosing between Perak Hotel and the chic Saff Hotel. But since Perak... More

My family and I had a 1 night stopover in SIN on our trip to the UK, after choosing the Perak Hotel from the reviews on TA, I must say all those positive reviews came through. This was a good place to stay, friendly and helpful staff and clean linen. My wife and 2 daughters were pleasently surprised at our... More

The best quality of Perak is that it's cheap for the location -- it's in Little India, and within 10 minutes walk to Bugis MRT. Singapore hotel rates have gotten out of control, so this is good option if you're looking for a good value and a central location. The rooms are bare, with average cleanliness. My room had a... This is a nice hotel without the faceless corporate feeling you'd get from a larger chain hotel. The rooms are clean and tidy and of an acceptable size. Staff are very friendly and helpful to travellers. The included breakfast will fill you up, but won't excite your taste buds much at all. The downside to the Perak is that it... More

our party consisted of three adults. We had a deluxe room with a huge king sized bed and a single. Rooms are small but all hotels are like this in Little India. The staff were friendly and helpful and they serve a basic but good breakfast of cereal, toast, noodles, fruit, tea and coffee. They provide a TV and fridge... More

We booked well ahead here and arrived late at night. We were shown to a room that looked like a cave with a raised platform for sleeping with mattresses on it and a tiny old bathroom. As it was late we waited until morning to address this. After some negotiation we were given a far superior room albeit a bit... More

This is nice hotel in a vivid and beautiful part of Singapore. The area is packed with bars and restaurants. The hotel is in an old building so it has it´s own character. The service was friendly. I wouls come again.

Staying in Little India

Neighborhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly colored saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colorful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Center, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colorful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.
