Staff members are all helpful and friendly. Rooms are kept clean and comfortable for every visitor. The location is super convenient to the MRT and can get you around pretty much anywhere in Singapore. It's right above the Chinatown food street so you will never go hungry with your endless options.

Enjoyable Stay in Royal Hostel, Singapore. The rooms were clean, spacious and have bunks, and a personal locker. (a deposit of 2 dollars needed.) Very close to the Chinatown metro station, walkable distance and then from the hostel you are at the central to everything you need to EAT in Singapore. The staff was helpful. From help with locating the... More

Room is really clean and well ventilated. Comfortable and convenient bed with light and curtain for each bed. Good enough breakfast. The most wonderful thing is this hostel is right next to MRT station and China town food court! Negative: common restrooms feels dirty

Excellent hostel with clean rooms and comfortable beds. The location is perfect and the staff are really helpful. It's a shame there aren't really any proper common areas and they could do with a couple more bathrooms but otherwise it was great!

We are currently booked on this hostel for 2 days.. Service/ locations are great very accessible especially mrt/ food strips i hope they will change their policies that they wont accept families with children or todlers because this type of set up in a hostel is very inconvenient for those people who wants to sleep and rest (1 room/12 beds... I stayed at this hostel for one night with my partner. The room was spacious and the beds all come with a bed light and plug socket. The beds also have curtains and dividers which helps with the privacy when sharing with so many people! There are fans and aircon and it was perfectly cool! The only downside were the... More

The hostel is located in Smith Street Hawker Centre, Chinatown. We can walk to Clark Quay and The Marlion etc. with 30 minutes. There is rally cleanness, air conditioned, safe to stay and enjoy to make Kaya Toast in Breakfast (complementary). Thank you a lot!

Of course the hostels in Singapore a relatively expensive compared to Malaysia, but this one is definitely worth the extra money. Everything clean as a whistle, very friendly staff, great location (in the middle of the middle of Chinatown, subway and busses around the corner) and good facilities: curtains at the beds, reading lights, lockers, personal sockets, free water, coffee... Myself and a friend just left after a 3 night stay at the Royal Hostel Singapore. I have to say I blown away by the helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff there. They allowed us a 3am check in after a long flight and provide us with all we needed for a stay in Singapore. The location is perfect... More

The Royal Hostel was very conveniently located, 1 minute away from the MRT station. I came in after hours and it was very easy with the envelope left for me. The dorm was simple and clean, with a locker provided. They also provided towels and a hairdryer which was great. The bathroom had a sink broken, so there was only... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
