- Shophouse is centrally located, walking distance from Bugis MRT. Many diverse restaurants & bars nearby. - For a country as expensive as Singapore, it is very affordable place to stay. It has a great lounge area on the rooftop, where you can watch movies & play video games after a busy day sightseeing & helps to create a social... More

Shophouse is centrally located, couple of minutes walk from the Bugis MRT. It is inexpensive and one of the more comfortable hostels in Singapore. . The things I like Good number of showers at every floor The bunk beds are wooden - so less squeaks when the person on top shuffles You can can good rates for higher priced rooms... More

Us four friends stayed at the Shophouse in early February and loved it! The location was brilliant, with incredibly atmospheric local streets, and with easy access via the #100 and #107 buses or the nearby metro to the city centre. The all-day breakfast is a great perk (we especially enjoyed the Nutella, having travelled from remote NE India where such... More

A certainly good choice if you are looking for a sound sleep, chilled out hostel, looking to make friends and all-day breakfast. Young, interesting staff which earnestly strive to help and entertain guests, I was especially lucky to have stayed at this hostel during their one year anniversary, which was well organised and a fun night out. Cheers guys :D

Stayed here for 5 night in October in 8 beds female dorm. Overall is okay. But the dorm is pretty small and congested. (not recommended for people who value big individual space). Unfortunately during my stay, there was water leaking from the aircond and so it was like a pond of water at the door's area. Location is perfect. Lots... More

I stayed here for two nights with my boyfriend. We were on the top floor; 16-bed mixed dorm. Our stay here was ok; not great but not terrible. The common area on the rooftop is great; movies, books, play station, magazines, wifi, endless amounts of tea & coffee, lots of seating area. The breakfast was also a nice touch; just... More

Hi Siobhan M, Thanks for the time in dropping us a review! Really appreciate your feedback and we apologise deeply regarding the toilets cleanliness. We have looked into the matter and ensured that it is constantly being cleaned every now and then. As for the rooms, you can always opt for a smaller dorm like the 8 Bed or the... More

I have stayed in lot of hostels around the world but I must say the Shophouse Hostel is one of the best so far and probably the best. I don't even know where to start. Well, the premises are beautifully arranged, everything is neat and beds are very comfortable. The staff is very welcoming, accommodative, friendly and helpful. Service is... More

i've stayed for 2 nights. The staff really helpfull and good administration system. The location is excellent. Near MRT, bus shelter, right in the centre of kampong glam area, few meters to mustafa mosque, few meters to main road, restaurants open until late at night, shops for shopping and many more. The bed is great, warm blanket, chilly room...love this!... More

Having wandered the streets of LIttle India in search of a hostel with a free bed for 3 hours, I was delighted that Shophouse had space for a small and weary traveller. Note to self: for future reference, do not turn up on National Day in Singapore without having booked somewhere to stay. The dorm was a little crowded and... More

Staying in Kampong Glam

Neighborhood Profile
Kampong Glam
This traditionally Malay enclave of Singapore offers an alluring array of shops, cafes, and bars. A walk down Haji Lane offers quirky shopping, while one block over, Arab Street is a treasure trove of brightly colored fabrics, clothing, and Turkish rugs. Stop for a leisurely coffee or cocktail and watch local kids play traditional games along the lane. Also home to the Malay Heritage Center and one of Singapore’s most prominent mosques (Sultan Mosque), Kampong Glam is a must-visit for a tantalizing taste of Malay life in this city.
