i would not stay again for free...despite the sweet and helpful staff, the facility is a wreck...dirty carpets, bad air conditioning in all THREE rooms I tried...extremely noisy in the front (neighborhood) and in the back (air conditioning for the whole building) and all 3 rooms smelled like cigarettes...this was a terrible experience, i have stayed in 5 dollar youth... more

We stayed there on Sep 25 & 26 2009. Where do I start for this terrible overprice hotel?? The worst was the broken toilet pipes. YES, THE PIPE BROKE. As I was cleaning my face in the morning, the toilet's pipes suddenly broke and water poured out non-stop. I had to wait for over an hour before i got the... more

The hotel is close to MRT station, which is good. The location and the surrounding area is also good, as part of China Town. I was also excited when I saw the look from the outside, but not so excited when entering the hotel and the room. The room needs a lot of work just to make it to an... more

I was extremely disappointed with the Royal Peacock. It was overpriced and is past its glory. The hotel needs a facelift -- it's tired and shabby and I didn't find any redeeming qualities in it. The A/C was noisy, inefficient and dusty; my room had a window but backed onto the noisy compressors for the A/C for the building; tiles... more

I stayed at Royal Peacock on the weekend of August 1-3, 2009. I've been checking tripadvisor before booking and notice that the cheapest type has no window, so I booked a superior single room with window facing the street. First impression was not too bad, I mean after all they offer a good rate in the very good location... well... more

i read the other review that said to stay on the first floor. that may be the key, b/c if you get second floor. forget it. the bathroom was ancient. the towels were dirty. asked for new ones ... "oh we'll put in new ones when we change the room" yeah, great, only staying one night. teh lobby is quaint... more

I had to spend 2 days in this hotel. My first impression - " The Hostel ". No windows !! Imagine after so many hours of flight from Europe to Singapore they gave me that room without windows and improper lighting. I had to go outside to see if it's night or day. The walls were cracked and during nightime... more

The smart lobby, delightful dining room and friendliness of staff was where it all stopped. The room we had was small and dingy - the double bed pushed up against the wall and no bedside table so you had to put things on the floor. It had no window so was very dark - we didn't realise it was morning... more

Hotel's located in dirty China town but close to center of Singapore. Room was dark, without window and very small. I think just for one or max 2nights no longer. Food isn't so bad, that's the best thing in hotel. In Singapore is more better hotel than this:) more

Absolutely love the local atmosphere & colour. We'd stayed at this hotel previously & so knew to book the authentic first floor rooms with the French Windows opening above the street.. The second floor rooms are cell-like & windowless. Breakfasts are excellent by 3* standards & we had no complaints re service or facilities whatsoever. Its central location to transport... more
