This is a hotel that's located right in the middle of Chinatownand all the the older style shop houses of the Singapore past that's today Hotels, Restaurants and Bars. The staff are very helpful and friendly and with breakfast thrown in, you couldn't ask for more. However the rooms are extremely small with even the bathroom sink located in your... More

Hi Patrick L, Greetings from Hotel 1929! Thank you so much for taking time to draft out this review. Housed in a conservation building, the smallest room measure 10sqm; great for the lone adventurer. If space is an issue, we would usually recommend our guests to book the Deluxe and Terrace Suites that measure 18sqm and 30sqm respectively. Having said... More

If you want an hotel to sleep, forget this one. One side is on the street, and you will not sleep too noisy, and other side you have the compressor of AC, terrible, motor start every 10mn, for 3 or 4 mn. Morning, don't believe you can rest, the noisy maids speak un the corridor and the vacuum cleaner, will... More

My teeny tiny room was great, except that it was located next to an exhaust fan. The staff were very friendly and it is in a great location. I really liked this hotel, but I would ask for a room away from the exhaust fan.

Hotel 1929 is ideally located within 5 mins walk from the Chinatown MRT Station and along Keong Saik Road. I arrived around mid-day and was greeted by a friendly front desk lady who allowed me to check into the hotel early. Check-in process was relatively quick and there were also some local snacks and beverages available while waiting for my... More

A cozy and lovely hotel. I braced myself because I read that the rooms were quite small but then I was surprised because my single room actually had space on the floor to do stretching exercises! I loved the furniture and the design of the room, even the little bathroom where, even if the shower was right in front of... More

I stayed in a single room on the second floor which had a lovely airy feel and shuttered windows, as well as ordinary windows. Things worked rather easily. Be warned - the toilet may be in the shower as was mine! If you ever dreamed of a showering while toileting experience, this is your chance! I found the young staff... More

It was my second visit to this hotel. Very lucky they gave me the same room I have last April 2015 (deluxe room on the third floor), so it really felt familiar with the place like I was being home. The staff was amazing, very helpful if I may add. One of the best thing of this place is that... More

This was my forth stay at this lovely boutique hotel.I'm not going to mention the room size as this topic gets enough written about it.I chose a deluxe double room which was on the 4th floor. This actually felt like a private part of the hotel with from memory no more than 3 rooms. The staff are great as always and... More

In the heart of Keong Saik road, home to beautiful quaint bars and cafe's around, Hotel 1929 is truly a hidden vintage gem. Value for money, clean and hygienic rooms with modern amenities, prompt service, a super helpful staff, a beautiful breakfast spread and lots of safety. As a solo traveller I couldn't have asked for more!! Highly recommended!

Hotel 1929 is a small hotel (boutique style) in the heart of Singapore's Chinatown district. I was there for 3 nights and unfortunately booked a room for one person only. Hello SydneyPerla, Greetings from Hotel 1929. We appreciate your time drafting out this review. It will certainly serve as a helpful guide to fellow travellers. Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
