As the title says, this place would be a little gem if the price were about 25% less. As it stands they're charging for something they can't offer. The rooms are absolutely tiny. And although that didn't bother me personally, it will bother many (most?), and it really should factor into the price. The "complementary" internet didn't work half the... more

I chose this hotel because I was travelling alone and it had such good reviews on trip advisor. The reviews were spot on, I loved it! I had a beautifully designed compact and cosy single room. It was clean and bright and did not feel cramped at all. The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel had a retro... more

This hotel is located in Chinatown, so the location is great if you come to Singapore to party. If you like an authentic atmosphere, this is the place for you. The hotel is in an old colonial building, and plenty of old photo's on the wall testify to Singapore's history. Also, the owner is a collector of designer chairs, which... more

This is swishy, tidy little boutique hotel in a 1920s building on the edge of Chinatown. Pluses: great staff, free Internet and buffet breakfast, outdoor jacuzzi. Minuses: some rooms very small, somewhat overpriced. I stayed in two rooms here - one was quite cramped. The friendly staff gave me a bigger room on the second night for the same rate.... more

In December 2008 I took a tour from Bangkok to Singapore - which ended at The Royal Peacock Hotel - one night - as part of the tour. I wanted to stay an extra night but the rates were too high so I looked for an alternative. I stumbled upon Hotel 1929 and I'm so pleased I did. When we... more

We decided to write a review while searching for a hotel for a new trip in December/January 2008/09 and recalled this hotel. There is cheap and terrible and expensive and terrible. We felt on balance that 1929 falls into the latter. It is a a soulless refurbished building with rooms so small that it was uncomfortable for our five days... more

Staff was friendly and helpful... Rooms are a bit small but well-designed... If you can live with the fact that the bathroom has glass walls (and that the toilet is sorta in the shower area), it's pretty nice... more

The room is clean, modern but really small. Interesting bathroom with see-through glass but no bathtub. You can't really invite just anyone up because of the see-through bathroom. They would see everything. Didn't have the breakfast so can't comment. Overall, I wouldn't mind if I am a lone traveller but the room is just too small & inconvenient for more... more

Single rooms are small, but clean and well-designed; great location (8 min. walk from MRT, 2 min. from heart of Chinatown); staff are very friendly and helpful. I gave it a lower rating because when we were there, they were renovating the restaurant, without giving any prior notice. It made for a very unpleasant entry through the lobby (the caustic... more
