Hotel 1929 is a small hotel (boutique style) in the heart of Singapore's Chinatown district. I was there for 3 nights and unfortunately booked a room for one person only. I should have invested a little more money to get a double room. The single room is really really small (the bed size plus a chair and a tiny desk... More

I stayed here for a few nights. I was in Singapore for a visa run, and this hotel was a place I easily could stay again in. The staff is great, and the restaurant was delicious. I had one of my best angus steak ever here,

We were on a two-day business layover and couldn't have picked a better hotel. Service was efficient and wonderfully friendly. We stayed at the Terrace Suite, (appx SGD304/ night incl. breakfast) which has an outdoor bathtub in a cute balcony overlooking the street. The hotel is only 7 mins from Exit H, Outram MRT station and really, you're at the... More

A great little hotel to stay at for a shorter time. The staff is helpful, the breakfast buffet good. I was a bit disappointed by the size of my deluxe room, have never stayed in a room this small. It did however work fine for sleeping, especially when you spend your days exploring the city.

I chose this hotel because of an article in CNN about Keong Saik Road. Now that I've stayed at 1929, I will definitely go back because of the kindness of the staff as well as the great food on Keong Saik Road. The room was just the right size for 3 people with an extra bed, the breakfast was good... More

Wanted a last minute staycation and booking.com offered a good rate of approximately $160 for 2 pax (inclusive breakfast) for weekend stay. Stayed in the superior room and the room was really small. No wardrobe, no bedroom slippers. Hubby commented that it was a hole in the wall. Sound proofing was bad because I can hear people opening the doors.... More

Hello hunhunhun, Thank you for your honest feedback. For staycations, we would usually recommend the Deluxe rooms or the two suites; Junior Suite and Terrace Suite as they are more spacious. As a conservations shophouse, we do admit that the rooms are rather compact hence catering more to the solo travellers. Perhaps the next time, we could have you try... More

The hotel is located in a street full of trendy cafes, bars and restaurants. It is also close to the Chinatown and to a metro station. Which was really ideal!! The hotel is nicely furnished. The superior rooms are small but confortable. The hotel also provides a free mobile phone with unlimited calls and 3G access. We would definitely go... More

Based on the article that i read, the building was built on 1929 and became hotel around 2003. I like the architecture of the hotel. The hotel is very stylist in the lobby. I got chance to stay at room 306 with balcony. Check in was smooth and the receptionist allowed me to early check in... thank you. Located around... More

The room is really small, but it was cosy. You can literally hear your neighbours banging their doors and talking at the corridor. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! However the breakfast buffet choices were very very limited and the cut fruits were dried up and not fresh anymore. There no eggs or ham or any meat... More

Three reasons I rould not book this place after staying here: 1. Biggest offense is upon the elevator opening to the second floor where our room was, the strong and pervasive smell of smoke and old mildew. It was overpowering. The smell lives in the walls and carpet. I even came home with a suitcase of smoke scented clothes. 2.... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
