I really wanted to like this hotel, good location, lovely building, friendly staff but the rooms really are tiny. There was no space for luggage, we couldn't both stand at the same time, the bathroom was tiny. I could only recommend if you were alone with no luggage

The hotel itself is nice and the staff tries its best, BUT I had a room besides the generator. That's like hell. The generator switches on about 7.10am and off about 10.20pm. Argghhhh. Loud. Annoying. Apparently it is needed for the kitchen. I changed the room, still close. Another room. Still close. Sorry, I can't recommend that hotel, because the... More

The location of the hotel was brilliant, just on the fringe of Chinatown. We stayed on level 3 at the front of the hotel. The room was compact but completely functional. It did get noisy in the evening but got quieter later on. The drums, trumpet and bells from the local temple were a surprise wake up call but added... More

Dear MistyPo, Thank you for taking time to share this review of your stay at Hotel 1929. We are delighted to hear our team of staff made your stay enjoyable. Housed in a conservations shophouse, space is indeed very much a constraint. Located along Keong Saik street with plenty of restaurants and cafes as well as less than 10 min... More

We stayed here for 3 nights on our way back from Bali. The hotel is in charming Chinatown and is a beautiful restored building externally. However we were very disappointed. The main issue is the noise which is beyond ridiculous. If you stay at the front of the hotel the noise from the lift, traffic, dustmen, restaurants and temple is... More

Dear Natalie C, Thank you for the kind review and we are disappointed to know that we fell short of your expectations. Housed in a conservation building, most of our rooms are rather compact. Catering to single travellers, every space is optimally utilized. For couples, we would usually recommend our Deluxe Room located on the attic floor of the hotel.... More

+ Nicely decorated and comfortable enough for a small room, rain shower provided, not far from mrt , a lot of eating stall around , located in a beautiful area, breakfast is prepared on order. - A little bit pricy for a small room.

We were on the first accommodation floor. Rooms were compact and the wet room was a hoot. We did get used to the early morning wake up call from the nearby temple. As others have said the breakfast was a bit basic but there is now a wonderful artisan bakery up the road with great pastries and even better coffee.... More

Singapore has a myriad of hotel, most more expensive than in many cities and dominated by international brands. In areas like Chinatown, there are several quirky classic boutique hotels in wonderfully restored historic buildings. My favourite is Hotel 1929. It is located in a beautifully restored historic row of 19th C buildings on Keong Saik Rd in the heart of... More

The hotel is located very well for many upmarket restaurants, casual cafes and bars . The reception were very helpful and kind enough in taking our luggage into storage and providing a room to shower and refresh after our long flight as our appointed room still had guests in. Let me start by saying this is not a Marriott, Hilton, or any other type of bland chain. If that's what you want, they have them in Singapore also ! I travel a lot for work and have done for over 15 years, at this stage I like hotels with character, history and convenience to local life. Hotel 1929 has... More
