I stayed in a single room on the second floor which had a lovely airy feel and shuttered windows, as well as ordinary windows. Things worked rather easily. Be warned - the toilet may be in the shower as was mine! If you ever dreamed of a showering while toileting experience, this is your chance! I found the young staff... More

Hi miss e, Thank you so much for this feedback following your solo stay this month. I would like to apologise for the miscommunication with our new front desk staff as they had the impression that you were referring to the staircase leading up the floors. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused with this mix-up information! We admit... More

It was my second visit to this hotel. Very lucky they gave me the same room I have last April 2015 (deluxe room on the third floor), so it really felt familiar with the place like I was being home. The staff was amazing, very helpful if I may add. One of the best thing of this place is that... More

This was my forth stay at this lovely boutique hotel.I'm not going to mention the room size as this topic gets enough written about it.I chose a deluxe double room which was on the 4th floor. This actually felt like a private part of the hotel with from memory no more than 3 rooms. The staff are great as always and... More

In the heart of Keong Saik road, home to beautiful quaint bars and cafe's around, Hotel 1929 is truly a hidden vintage gem. Value for money, clean and hygienic rooms with modern amenities, prompt service, a super helpful staff, a beautiful breakfast spread and lots of safety. As a solo traveller I couldn't have asked for more!! Highly recommended!

Hotel 1929 is a small hotel (boutique style) in the heart of Singapore's Chinatown district. I was there for 3 nights and unfortunately booked a room for one person only. I should have invested a little more money to get a double room. The single room is really really small (the bed size plus a chair and a tiny desk... More

Hello SydneyPerla, Greetings from Hotel 1929. We appreciate your time drafting out this review. It will certainly serve as a helpful guide to fellow travellers. As the hotel is housed within a conservation shophouse, we do admit that the rooms are rather compact. For guests who prefer more space, we would recommend the Deluxe and Terrace Suite rooms. We do... More

I stayed here for a few nights. I was in Singapore for a visa run, and this hotel was a place I easily could stay again in. The staff is great, and the restaurant was delicious. I had one of my best angus steak ever here,

We were on a two-day business layover and couldn't have picked a better hotel. Service was efficient and wonderfully friendly. We stayed at the Terrace Suite, (appx SGD304/ night incl. breakfast) which has an outdoor bathtub in a cute balcony overlooking the street. The hotel is only 7 mins from Exit H, Outram MRT station and really, you're at the... More

A great little hotel to stay at for a shorter time. The staff is helpful, the breakfast buffet good. I was a bit disappointed by the size of my deluxe room, have never stayed in a room this small. It did however work fine for sleeping, especially when you spend your days exploring the city.

I chose this hotel because of an article in CNN about Keong Saik Road. Now that I've stayed at 1929, I will definitely go back because of the kindness of the staff as well as the great food on Keong Saik Road. The room was just the right size for 3 people with an extra bed, the breakfast was good... More

Wanted a last minute staycation and booking.com offered a good rate of approximately $160 for 2 pax (inclusive breakfast) for weekend stay. Stayed in the superior room and the room was really small. No wardrobe, no bedroom slippers. Hubby commented that it was a hole in the wall. Sound proofing was bad because I can hear people opening the doors.... More

Hello hunhunhun, Thank you for your honest feedback. For staycations, we would usually recommend the Deluxe rooms or the two suites; Junior Suite and Terrace Suite as they are more spacious. As a conservations shophouse, we do admit that the rooms are rather compact hence catering more to the solo travellers. Perhaps the next time, we could have you try... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
