Don't be fooled by the photographs on the website and the flowery description of the accommodation, the place is a dump. Lovely facade, nice location but oh dear inside is awful. Filthy and is almost falling down. DO NOT book online and pay in advance in case, like me, you don't like what you see on arrival and check out... More

Having arrived at The Duxton Hotel last weekend I had anticipated more but my expectations certainly were not met from the standpoint of hardware (lobby, room, bar, etc) and service. Upon check in, no greeting was made and no eye contact made by the two men behind the desk ... they just took my passport and never looked up. The... More

Lovely heritage hotel with big lounge area with magazines to read. Reception staff ok- not over- friendly. Room large enough, with an extra pull out bed ( which was v uncomfortable). Beds were much better, lots of Singapore info in the room. No sign of mould or insects in our room:-) The location was nice, very safe and quaint. My... More

We stayed at the suite room. However there are alot of terms and conditions to follow. Such as visitors need to be registered at the counter and to leave by 10pm. No outside food and beverages are allowed in our hotel as they have a cafe also. We also have to deposit a sum of $200 upon checking in in... More

I went for a business trip in Singapore and my client booked this hotel for me through booking.com. My experience: 1. I reached hotel near about 11:00 AM. I asked for early checkin --the hotel told me that they can give me early check-in but it will cost me $100. "They said that they are giving me offer otherwise they... More

Good hotel in a good location. Friendly staff. Great cafe across the street & walking distance to food market. Only difficulty was 2 story bedroom which was hard with a toddler & a steep staircase. Thanks

I had a staycation with some of my friends over the weekends. To be completely fair, maybe the hotel thrives in its "vintage" ambience and realistically speaking you can't expect much from the worn out furnishings as they've been made to look that way. I for one, am a fan of vintage theme and i find the rooms' decor rather... More

We reserved this hotel through United Airline website and used miles to book it, somehow thinking that United would not allow substandard facilities on their website, for their customers. I was WRONG! This hotel is a dump. There is a bad repugnant smell in the lobby, in the room, and throughout the building. Our room was situated somehow under the... More

Stayed here for a night with some friends. Funny policy whereby guests had to sign in (my first encounter after many many staycations)Even after signing in, every time we walked in or out, they would doubt us again and asked for details. Super annoying. Like we owe them money. Great potential to be a great place for staycations lest for... More

I spent a week at the Duxton in early Feb and I was pretty disappointed. I was there for work and although I was really happy with the location (great proximity to public transport, close to China Town, great spots to eat etc) I was really unhappy with my room. I guess what I had was a standard room but... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
