the look of the lobby was cool. room was small, tight and simple but had a nice spacious bathroom. thats perfect when you're like me and feel a room only serves as a place to sleep. across the road was a market, a small restaurant with cheap(er) food and beers. always taxis around, the MRT is just around the corner... My relatives and I stayed for 2 nights in this hotel. The rooms we got were tiny and had no windows. Breakfast was plain and customer service was ok. The hotel is near the MRT station and shopping area in Chinatown. Overall, the Hotel is good for short stay in Singapore

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel. It is a former theatre and the public areas are beautifully decorated. The rooms are clean and well presented but small (this is Singapore) - a Queen Size room was OK for 1 person. My main concern is that each room as a doorbell - a very loud one that plays a tune for... More

Location was smack in Chinatown and 5 mins from MRT station. Lots of eating places and shopping away from main tourist Pagoda Street. Within walking distance to the Riverside area. Easy travelling to other places of interest by MRT. Decor of hotel had interesting pictures on Chinese Opera - would be more open if the wooden poles ? around the... More

Stayed in a single at the Santa for 3 nights and enjoyed it. Yes, the rooms are tiny, but so are most rooms in Singapore as I've gathered. I found the rooms clean and everything in working order. There was no window but also no noise. They could do with better lighting and as already mentioned in some reviews the... More

Location: this hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Chinatown, just few minutes stroll from Chinatown MRT (exit at Pagoda Street). It has 2 entrances; one at Smith Street (Chinatown Food Street) and Temple Street. Lobby: the lobby of the hotel is rather impressive. The location of this property is very central and close to the MRT. This is important since the extensive MRT network in Singapore takes you to most of the places of interest cheaply and efficiently. The building itself used to be a theatre for the Chinese opera, so it reeks history and character. The rooms however is very small but... More

Great location. At the heart of Chinatown, right on Smith street (which turns into a food street in the evening). Subway is 3 minutes' walk away, and downtown shopping area is just 2 subway station away. There are some restaurants, coffee shops nearby that open throughout the night till early morning. Single room is tiny and spartan. Saw a cockroach... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
