Not a great fan of modern high rise hotels so when we travel tend to look for interesting characterful well located places to hang our hat. Having noted from other reviews comments that rooms were small and some had no windows we booked a deluxe kingsize. Still maybe not the biggest room we have stayed in but is is plenty... More

Charming hotel right smack in the heart of Chinatown. It used to be a Chinese opera house which later became a warehouse of sorts before it's former glory was restored albeit in a different form as a hotel. One enters the lobby and sees the high ceiling up to the roof. Looking around, one sees the surrounding terraces that used... More

very near to MRT China Town station. lots of restaurants and bars around. The price is not expensive compared with other SG hotels but the room is so small. it's ok for single traveler. choose a better hotel if u come with your partner or family.

I stayed in 3 hotels under Santa Grand chain (Santa Grand Chinatown, Victoria Hotel, and this one). Locations is quite perfect. Staffs are friendly and helpful. I used to stay in both double room n standard single room in those hotel, but this is my first time for standard single room at Santa Grand Hotel Lai Chun Yuen. Room is... More

Santa Grand is great value for money. It's in a very convenient location in the centre of Chinatown, a very short walk to the MRT which will take you anywhere in affordable, airconditioned comfort. Just outside the door of the hotel are many delicious and affordable food options, including a fantastic hawker centre just up the street for authentic Sinagporean... More

veru bad experience right from beginning. In my booking receipt, they mentioned head office address which is in changi. My cab driver was searching for this place for about 1 hour. When I finally reach hotel in China town, there is nobody at the entrance. I had to shout to get somebody at the entrace. Only thing I like about... More

A good place to stay if u plan to go out most of the day. It's just a place to sleep n shower after a long day spent outdoors. Be sure to check room size and whether or not it has windows, which unfortunately i didn't do. The bed is 2 steps away from the bed and the wardrobe is... More

Boutique hotel design yes but the room is really small. Balcony totally no privacy and safety as you can easily climb over to your neighbors territory. Bathroom is a joke. 3 star rating but overly priced in my opinion. Would I stay there again or recommend it to my foreign friends? No.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
