Don't book a single room unless you want to feel like you're in a coffin, as it has no windows and with the black and deep red decor, it's very claustrophobic. I paid more and upgraded to a double with window as i couldn't bear to be in the windowless single room. The location is very good as it's right... More

I stayed here as a solo traveller for 3 days 2 nights. Though the room is small, I have enough space for my 20" luggage. The room and toilets are clean which is very important to me. Santa Grand Lai Chun Yuen is a 3-star hotel, so do not expect the bed to be as comfortable as a 4 or... More

We thought to stay a 2 days in Singapore and decided to stay in Chinatown. The room was too small, the shower was just hanging above the sink, matrass was too hard to sleep on, airco blowing straight on your face, outside very noisy, as were the neighbours. Also 17% was added to the rate for tax and service charge,... More

Positives: the staff are extremely helpful, kind and easy to talk to/understand English. The rooms were clean and sufficient and the complimentary components were a nice touch. The major positive was its location in the centre of China Town and in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Negatives: Rooms were surprisingly smaller than the pictures online and bathroom shower... Pleasant Stay, friendly staff, great location, easy access to MRT, easy access to eateries, warm and cosy. the room and toilet is rather small. Breakfast is ok. Could provide more choices for customers to choose.

Accessible to all major tourist spot in SG. The room is a bit small for a family of 3. But if you are looking for a hotel where you can just keep your things and just sleep after a days touring then I recommend the hotel for its the cheapest, location is ok and the hotel ambiance is very good.

very helpful staff . good service. Small room, but i was travelling on my own, good enough for me. Love that balcony. A bit noisy as is right in the middle of Chinatown, stores downstairs make noise when they close up at night. While the location is super convenient , a bit of noise is unavoidable I guess. The hotel... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
