I feel bad giving The Sultan a mediocre review, since I've stayed here before. I like smaller hotels. It's cool that it's in an old shop front. It's a colonial building with a courtyard and trees. It's in an interesting area - an Arab distrct with little shops and restaurants. But for three nights - for hours & hours -... More

I rate the Sultan very good for particularly two reasons, their super fast internet and the location. The hotel is situated walking distance from haji lane / the Arab area with all the different halal restaurants and other shops, not to forget the beautiful Sultan Mosque. If you want to visit little India it's a short walk away and if... More

I decided to have a staycay here for a night and I wasn't expecting anything fabulous. But when I arrived, the staff was really friendly and helpful, with the fact that I didn't know my room number (a friend checked in for me!). The staff even walked with me to the room but that was because going to your room... More

Located within an area of Singapore seeped in history considered the oldest part where the earlier settlers first landed, The Sultan offers a blend of old world charm with modern facilities. Only 25 minutes from Changi International Airport with lots of local eateries nearby. Easy access to Arab Street, Bugis, Little India and a 10 minute train ride to Orchard... More

Stayed for three nights at The Sultan. Room was clean and comfortable for one person. Everything worked. Shower overflowed on the first.morning, which was reported and.fixed without hassle. WiFi was patchy at times, better in public areasnthan in rooms. Breakfast basic but adequate. Location very good. Staff in every department, FOH, F&B and housekeeping were all superb, helpful and polite.... More

Great relaxed hotel- neat and tidy and beautifully restored and very well priced for family to stay in loft room. It's close to all transport, bugis and lavender train stations. Placed in the heart of the very funky Arab area where you can sit in beautiful Arab alley eating pide and listen to prayers from mosque- unique

We was in the sultan hotel during our Singapore trip mai 2015. The room was good but a lot of noise from street impossible to sleep. A small bathroom. The breakfast was very very poor. The restaurant stuff was unfriendly.

The lobby to the rooms had nice deco. You feel secure also because they have a gate that requires the hotel card to open. The Sultan Loft was nice, the sofa bed was really nice for family bonding. The breakfast was a tad disappointing though, very much different from other raving reviews on how it was awesome.

I've heard of the Sultan Hotel for quite a while now. It is a boutique hotel converted from a classical "heritage" shop-house. In other words a really old place that used to be a shop-house given a new breath of life while retaining some of the old character and charms. There :) Curiosity and a chance short trip to Singapore... More

Stayed 2 nights at The Sultan in a Loft Room. Good for us and our adult son as we had that bit of privacy. We were a bit frightened when we saw the steep ladder to the upstairs loft room where the queen bed was, but after realising that the best way to navigate it was to go up then... More

Staying in Kampong Glam

Neighborhood Profile
Kampong Glam
This traditionally Malay enclave of Singapore offers an alluring array of shops, cafes, and bars. A walk down Haji Lane offers quirky shopping, while one block over, Arab Street is a treasure trove of brightly colored fabrics, clothing, and Turkish rugs. Stop for a leisurely coffee or cocktail and watch local kids play traditional games along the lane. Also home to the Malay Heritage Center and one of Singapore’s most prominent mosques (Sultan Mosque), Kampong Glam is a must-visit for a tantalizing taste of Malay life in this city.
