Although there are many high end hotels in Singapore, we chose this hotel after reading the reviews, as we were looking for a small hotel. It has the architectural style of the shophouses. We were on the ground floor, facing the alley (there is an Arab girl's school across the alley), and the room was very comfortable. The staff was... More

A small and intimate boutique hotel by Kampong Glam and Arab St. Walking distance to Bugis and surrounded great little cafe and restaurants. The hotel is situated among a few shop houses style building. Room is clean and cozy. I stayed on the ground floor with window "facing" an alley so it's quiet. Only a shame that I can't or... More

I stay at the Sultan almost every time I come to Singapore, which is often. The hotel is a small boutique hotel in the Arab quarter, and it's a stunning restoration of a whole block of shophouses. The interiors are very tasteful and stylish and oh so contemporary with lovely touches of the past. The staff are friendly, and unobtrusive.... More

I've actually never stayed at the hotel, I've only been to the bar, where they have jam sessions with jazz musicians on Sunday nights. It's a pretty cool setup - a lot of times, when big acts come through the country for a show, their band players will stop by and get in a session. Locals are also welcome to... More

Stayed at this hotel for two nights in Jan. 2014. The room we were given was not at all like the pictures on the site, it was very small and the bathroom was so small it was ridiculous, you had to go out of the room to close the door. The hotel was clean and the front desk staff were... More

Had a 1-night staycation here. Love the architecture of the hotel. Conservation and refurbishment very well done. I had the cheapest room which I found decent: neat, clean, good wi-fi and complimentary mini-bar. The decor was kept simple and air-conditioning worked very well. Room wasn't very big but in Singapore and at this price, it was about right. Breakfast with... More

Was expecting something more spectacular when it speaks junior suites. Thus, when my friend and I entered the room it was a slight disappointment. The junior suites is clean and neat hence it looks more like a typical deluxe room rather than a junior suites. Next, we were given a nespresso without any capsules. So, what's the point of putting... More

Unbelievably overpriced. So small you had to go into the shower cubicle to close the door to the bathroom. Damp smell. Had to move to a larger and more overpriced room. Very few services. More interest in their Jazz Club than guests. Food and drink, if you can get it, less than ordinary - out of a packet of frozen... More

The location of this hotel is very good, and for those who like architecture (like we do) will love its design. But it is quite noisy though: the rooms are not very well insulated against noise from within and outside the hotel.

I really enjoyed this hotel. It is quite small and it has a unique (somewhat Middle Eastern) feel to it. It is very nicely designed and there were several pictures showing how they have managed to restore a building to its old glory and nicely in keeping with the neighboorhood. The neighboorhood is nice as well, easily accessible by foot... More
