Room is small and shabby, sheets had weird stains. This would still be OK but on top of this the air con sounded like a lawn mower and music in bar was very loud. The front desk girl didn't even bat an eyelid when I gave up at 11pm and asked to change. It's almost as if they try to... More

We booked the Sultan Loft over the weekend. The room was large with a day bed, a king sized bed and a sofa which could sleep 5 average sized people easily. Plus points - Air-con was working well and so was the wifi. The bed was comfortable and shower was working well. Minus points - The hotel is situated by... More

Booked the skylight room as it looks interesting. However, when I entered, it is kind of small and also the glasses to view the night sky is quite dirty. There were also droplets of water from the aircon which dropped on the quilt. Thus requested for a change of room and were offered a free upgrade to The Puteri Room.... More

In a beautiful heritage building, the hotel looks brand new! With a variety of room types, it's just right for a weekend stay. There's a nice outdoor area on the 2nd floor which serves as a terrace for their bar (open at night only). Very convenient location and within the Arab district, it's an easy walk to the famous Haji... More

The area around this hotel is a very historical section from the earliest pre- colonial days where the Sultans used to have their palace. Do go and visit the free Malay cultural Museum a block away for a great insight into the area. The ancient and beautiful mosque is a few steps away with lots of pretty shops, especially if... More

Stayed for 2 days for my business trip. Got upgraded to the Sultan room. Thank you Dyla. Room was ok , had all I need for my trip. WiFi was fast and reliable. The hotel had character, i loved the vintage aura. A little difficult to find at first, google maps was going crazy. Location was ok, between 2 mrt... More

The Sultan is located in the interesting and lively Arab quarter. I was made to feel very welcome, the reception staff were knowledgeable and helpful, my room was clean with a lovely shower and was replenished with all essentials daily. Breakfast was average, quite limited in it's scope. The main drawback is the rooftop bar and the jazz club so... More

I don't know how I can express how disappointing my current stay at this hotel has been. Literally from the moment I stepped in the door, the experience has been sub-par. Barring the general critiques that apply to many hotels in Singapore (small rooms, high prices, etc) the Sultan further distinguishes itself by having a super confusing layout and unfriendly... I feel bad giving The Sultan a mediocre review, since I've stayed here before. I like smaller hotels. It's cool that it's in an old shop front. It's a colonial building with a courtyard and trees. It's in an interesting area - an Arab distrct with little shops and restaurants. But for three nights - for hours & hours -... More

Staying in Kampong Glam

Neighborhood Profile
Kampong Glam
This traditionally Malay enclave of Singapore offers an alluring array of shops, cafes, and bars. A walk down Haji Lane offers quirky shopping, while one block over, Arab Street is a treasure trove of brightly colored fabrics, clothing, and Turkish rugs. Stop for a leisurely coffee or cocktail and watch local kids play traditional games along the lane. Also home to the Malay Heritage Center and one of Singapore’s most prominent mosques (Sultan Mosque), Kampong Glam is a must-visit for a tantalizing taste of Malay life in this city.
