Stayed in this hostel for two days and loved it. The hostel itself is clean and creative, and the staff is awesome and extremely helpful. It is close to the MRT and there are several food shops nearby, along with a 7-11 just down the block. I stayed in a 10 person dorm on the 4th floor and it was... More

My sister and I spent 2 nights. We were greeted with friendly and accommodating staff. Impressed with the overall cleanliness of the facility. Fast WiFi connection. Free breakfast to start your day. We stayed with 4 other girls in the room and we both got the top bunk, which was ok. Remember to bring your own towel though. And an... More

Even though the "old" Five Stones used to be a tad closer to the Marina, it is nothing short of excellent service and friendly staff. With, albeit not the healthiest of breakfasts, free wifi and a laid-back backpacker atmosphere it has been my most positive hostel experience so far. My only gripe would be the showers and toilets, which could... More

Five Stones is a very clean and well-run hostel with really helpful staff and in a prime location, and all for a very reasonable price. I stayed in a private room which was small, but had everything I would need. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Singapore

An excellent hostel which provides comfortable beds, good breakfast, nice hostel staffs, friendly ambiance, very close to the lively Arab Street, restaurants and Singapore tourist spots. Very clean and a good value for money to such an expensive city, this hostel will cater your accommodation within your budget.

I stayed for 2 night for celebrating new years eve. I love it in the first sight because the cleanliness in the lobby. The room and bathroom also clean, and no shoes alowed makes me love it more. And free breakfast is the best! I could have toast and hot/cold drinks as much as I want. The last, free wifi.

A good place if you're looking to stopover in Singapore for a quick day or two, but look elsewhere for any longer than 2 nights. Pros: + Near the Arab quarter, which has some great shops, sights, and restaurants + Very clean! + Breakfast was sparse but decent (toast and cereal, coffee/tea) ... and they had chunky peanut butter!! +... If we love the previous hostel, we will love their new one at Bugis area even more!! Five Stones Hostel has certainly put in a lot of efforts making improvement in many areas. They are very nice and provide a lot of stuff other places don't in the same budget. No brainer if you wanna live central and cheap for a couple of nights :) Closest MRT station is approximately 300 meters away, form there you can go around the city as you please.

Staying in Kampong Glam

Neighborhood Profile
Kampong Glam
This traditionally Malay enclave of Singapore offers an alluring array of shops, cafes, and bars. A walk down Haji Lane offers quirky shopping, while one block over, Arab Street is a treasure trove of brightly colored fabrics, clothing, and Turkish rugs. Stop for a leisurely coffee or cocktail and watch local kids play traditional games along the lane. Also home to the Malay Heritage Center and one of Singapore’s most prominent mosques (Sultan Mosque), Kampong Glam is a must-visit for a tantalizing taste of Malay life in this city.
