The best thing about Beary Good is the location. Right in the heart of Chinatown almost directly in front of the Chinatown MRT station, less than 5 minutes walk (mostly covered from rain, an important note in Singapore!!) from Sri Mariamman Temple, Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, Smith St Food Stalls, and Maxwell Food Centre (arguably the best hawker centre in... Browsing many places to stay in Singapore. This place was my choice. No regret for choosing A Beary Good Hostel for staying while in Singapore. At first, I find it hard to find this place, but after I found it, 'Oh gosh, it's on the great location, a really few steps from MRT exit Pagoda Street Chinatown'. Excellent service, friendly... I am on a business trip for a week in Singapore and chose to stay in this hostel due to its ridiculously short distance from Chinatown MRT. The place itself has some character - bear, but not that distinctive. Facilities wise - bed, linen, location, free decent and healthy breakfast, internet and computer for guests use, toilet - i probably... More

Indeed a beary nice place to stay. My friends and I stayed for 7 days and loved every moment of it! Very accessible as they are literally steps away from chinatown mrt station. hospitable receptionists and very secure so no need to worry about the stuff u leave behind when u go out and explore sg.

My friend and I stayed here for 5 days and we have loved every minute of it. The hostel is located 10 seconds away from the Chinatown MRT station and is located on a pedestrian road so there is no noise during the evening and the mrt station makes every place in Singapore easily accessible. On arrival we were shown... More

who knew there were hostels in singapore??!! this was my first hostel experience since backpacking days 20 years ago. In perhaps 40 trips to singapore over the years, I have always stayed in 3/4/5 stars, but wanted to check out the budget end in prep for a long european holiday coming up. Apart from the appalling cutesy name (and the... More

Great place to stay! Excellent service as soon as we stepped in. We arrived early in the morning and received free breakfast and access to all the free facilities including internet, hot drinks, tv and dvds. After checkout our bags were held until late at night free of charge and all the facilities including a hot shower were still available... More

Once we entered Singapore we were clueless but with the help from the guys working here we weren't long finding our bearings. They were very helpful, especially the girl working during the day. There was free wifi, internet access, playstation 3 and dvds, board games, POWERFUL showers, washing machine and dryer, iron, hair dryer, EVERYTHING!! It really was like a... More

Very clean and bright, vibrant decor. Reception staff very welcoming and helpful. I've since discovered that Singapore backpackers are all very small and lack in 'backpacker vibe'. Also book early, I had to go to 7 backpackers to finally find one that could accomodate me for a full 7 nights. Singapore is missing a trick in creating a back packer... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
