Stayed for 3 days just for Eid (since our relatives house already overcrowded). Pros: Easy access, fast check-in/check-out Cons: Surrounded by restaurant - no free parking and hard to find a parking. Room 63 access card is semi-faulty (need a lot of trial and error to open the door). 1st door (main door) also need an access card. Got problem... More

This is a dirty hotel .... I trusted the filipino receptionist .... Raymond and he cheated me. I paid an advance of $300 for a 3-night stay ..... some time in July 2014 .... but later decided after one lousy sleepless night that this dump is not worth staying in . I then asked a refund of two nights payment... More

This is the smallest hotel that I ever stayed. I am not sure, do I have to not recommend this hotel? I stay at this hotel because I have to catch early flight, so I stayed from 5 in the afternoon until 3 in the morning. My friend who take me to this hotel said, I don't believe you stay... More

The location and the price is not too bad. However, the place is something else. We found easily 4 cockroaches in the small room. Cant even put my luggage. From the room, you can also smell the ciggi's smell. All in all, avoid at all cost unless you have to. From the price, there are better hotel elsewhere for the... More

I was planning to write a review along the lines of "nothing special but good enough for an airport layover" until I went to take a shower and ... there was no soap. And there was no soap available at the front desk. Note to management: providing little travel bars of soap would cost you less than 10 cents per... More

I had an overnight in Singapore, one option was to stay in an airport hotel - which would have been convenient, or find a hotel in the the city and endure an earlier start while already jet-lagged. Le Peranakan was a compromise. It's not always good to compromise. The rooms here are small and 'basic', and the one I was... More

First the good points..only a few minutes from the airport, and about halfway between airport and city. A few decent bars and restaurants nearby. Comfortable bed and the aircon and shower work well. The guy who cleans the rooms is very polite and friendly. Nuff respect to him.. The bad points..really tiny rooms with no window. When I say tiny... More

Small room but enough for one person at SGD70/night didn't bother me at all as i was there on a business trip. The hotel is nicely location around 10 mins from Changi Airport where you can take a bus to the location for only SGD 9/person. It's situated near a lot of famous eateries, bars, and even a coffee cafe... More

Disappointing is the thing that most needs to be said. For $100 anywhere in the world I expect more than a poorly maintained small mouldy windowless shoebox. In the last 4 nights due to strange circumstances I have stayed in four reasonably low budget hotels in Singapore. This was by far the most dissapointing. I booked online and there was... More

This hotel was very disappointing for me. The website says it is a boutique hotel and affordable. I honestly think you could find a better hotel for the same price. It is also far from a boutique hotel but more closely to a backpackers hotel. The room we got was really small without any window or any space to move... More

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighborhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighborhood is packed with colorful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
