Really enjoyed this place for the 2 nights we stayed there. Nice and modern with great facilities - good, plentiful showers on both floors, 3 computers at reception, free tea coffee and toast in the lounge area, clean dorms with air con. Plus each bed has its own light and a socket or 2 (sounds petty but nothing worse than... More

We stayed at the Rucksack Inn as a group of 28 people. This was the only possibility we found in Singapore where we could stay. The facilities were fine and the staff was VERY helpful. She helped us with arranging tickets for excursions, question we had and other random stuff we asked.

We were a large school group who stayed two nights in April . Rucksack could not have been more accommodating. They were great about our early arrival and late departure. They organised trips to the zoo and Universal Studio at a discount plus a bus. The place was very clean. Value for money.

Great people, always was a fun experience! They made me feel at home and treated me like family. In the heart of Chinatown, I got to experience culture and beauty! Close to the MRT and food courts. I'd definitely advice The Rucksack Inn to anyone

Was thoroughly unimpressed by this place - very slow and tedious check-in, dorms without windows/lockers. Dorms have no windows, wifi is slow and goes on/off, bathrooms are dirty, dorms do not have locks and reception is unmanned at night - the code on the door at night is so easy and has been the same so long that that the... Dear Malene, Thank you for your valuable feedback. We have addressed the issues you brought up and we can assure you that this was an isolated incident. On the day of your arrival, we were running on full occupancy with the majority of guests in large groups, hence the noise levels weren’t particularly low. We have taken your feedback seriously... A very good place to stay and the place is so near with MRT, so you can find this place easily. The place is so clean and comfortable, also the bathroom is clean, the service is also great, so I would recommend you guys this place. One thing though, in the room I slept the fan is blowing right to... More

Staff are so nice. I asked if they have earplugs since one of my roommates is snoring hard. Didn't expect that they'll transfer me to another room instead. When it's time for checkout, they allowed me to leave my things since I still have to go somewhere else. Rooms are clean, well lit and airconditiong is very good. The whole... More

The Rucksack Inn, Temple St, is your classic no frills backpackers inn with some of the best customer service you'll find. It goes without saying that if you want the full 5 star experience, you're probably much better off staying at any one of Singapore's many renowned coastal resorts. Most backpacker hostels will have similar style accommodation to this one,... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
