Temple St. is located in Chinatown making this hostel a great pit stop for those who plans to walk around Singapore at night. There are friendly staff to help you and the place was really well kept. I know that there are cheaper places but this place came highly recommended and I am convinced through my own experience. A word... More

First stop after a long haul from Wales and first ever hostel experience! Stayed in a mixed dorm for 8 people, the guy on reception was extremely helpful, clean dorms with air con, very secure place in a lively & vibrant area. Smith Street runs parallel to Temple Street where all the Hawker street food stalls are. Would stay again... More

This hostel is extremely clean, decent size rooms and in a good location and excellent air conditioning Although the facilities were clean there were spiders and bugs in the top corners of some shower cubicles. Our room had no window so it was quite dark. Staff were not rude but not very friendly either and sometimes not very approachable; and... More

We were a charitable organization organising a 3-day-2-night camp for 60 kids and about 30 volunteers. The Temple Street location only had 76 beds, but they kindly made special arrangements with additional mattresses, and were able to fit our whole group in. The space were a bit cramped considering our large group, but everything was nice and clean (including free... More

Really enjoyed this place for the 2 nights we stayed there. Nice and modern with great facilities - good, plentiful showers on both floors, 3 computers at reception, free tea coffee and toast in the lounge area, clean dorms with air con. Plus each bed has its own light and a socket or 2 (sounds petty but nothing worse than... More

We stayed at the Rucksack Inn as a group of 28 people. This was the only possibility we found in Singapore where we could stay. The facilities were fine and the staff was VERY helpful. She helped us with arranging tickets for excursions, question we had and other random stuff we asked.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colorful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
