This hotel is quite close to Paya Lebar MRT,within 10min walking distance. The hotel room aircond can't be switch off, which might caused trouble to people that afraid of cold,& the staffs are also quite rude. They never bother to great u although they are staring at u when u walk in,especially a chubby staff who's wearing specs.Plus the room charges... More

If you don't mind the "classic" smell that greets you when you enter the hotel lobby then please continue... This hotel is a pleasant surprise for me and my friends. I booked for them at the last minute (1 day before checking in). Considerably cheap for the location. It is in the Joo Chiat Heritage area, so you'll get to... More

Pro's: not far from Paya Leyar metro station which gets you to the airport in a few stops. This is the only positive point of this hotel. Cons: unfriendly staff. I was requested to pay for the room on arrival, 100 singapore dollars, no receipt given. This is without breakfast. When asked for the receipt, was told they would give... More

I recently spent one night here whilst on a stop over in Singapore, the hotel is fairly basic in terms of the room, standard double bed which was actually quite comfy. The bathroom was small but functional. Would've been better had there been a shower curtain, but the shower was ok. Hot and wet! The room did feel slightly musty/damp,... More

I only booked this hotel because it's near my company's office and the photos looked OK. I booked through Agoda for $86 AUD per night. There's an immediate stale smell as soon as you enter. The staff could be friendlier. The hallways smell of cigarette smoke. The room I booked didn't have a window and the air con controls don't... More

We were a group of 4 and booked this hotel via expedia for nights during our visit to Singapore from September 17-20, 2014. We had prior booking with agoda for a condominium unit in Upper Thompson but it was cancelled by the owner a couple of weeks prior to our departure. Luckily, we found this hotel which is one of... Small rooms, cleanliness not up to Singaporean standards but still better than same budget hotels in Malaysia. Good if you are staying for a night or two and transiting to airport as its location is near to Changi airport. As for the given price I was quite satisfied. If you didn't pay for luxury than how you'd can compare it... More

Booked this hotel for my family visit. We took the superior room option with hope to get a window room. Pricewise is reasonable. We managed to get the window room, but turned out almost no light goes in due to the tight window grills that they installed. Room is quite small, contains a queen bed and one dressing table. Not... Vivian and Zuuana at the reception were really nice and helpful with us and our baby. They were really welcoming persons and they gave us good advice and help also. The hotel is well located in the Malaysian area, around there was all the night markets. Room are comfortable, but small. You can boil water inside the room and there... More

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighborhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighborhood is packed with colorful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
