My friends and I were on a visit to Singapore and we decided to stay in Hotel 81. I will just list down the pros and cons. Pros - 250m away from bugis MRT - budget hotel Cons - some rooms had no way to control the temperature and was like the North Pole 24/7 (rooms 101, 201, 301, 401)... More

Two nights here and nothing to complain, except very noisy and drunken other guests on the first night but that's life. The room was super small with no window and I found it overpriced (60€/night) but it was clean and worked for what we needed - sleep and shower as we were here to explore the city, not to sit... But this was worse than I could have imagined. Never had to sleep in a bed that has a plastic cover over the mattress. If I'd changed hotel I found I'd loose everything I'd committed to which was 3 nights. Yuck, find somewhere else. I've only said this much because I have to. Ok it's location is alright which was... We stayed here for 2 days, two days too many. The room is the size of a shoebox. There are no windows so you never know what time it is or whether it is day or night. There isn't even a clock to let you know, although maybe thats a good thing as that would really make the room look... More

I have a vacation trip with my fam (I've 2 kids) back in june 2015. I stayed at hotel 81 rochor, and it was more than I expected, I booked a room for 3 and it's quite big with sort of private balcony. And it's not that pricy.. The hotel is clean, good service from hotel's staffs, helpful and informative... More

This is a budget Hotel, but it was clean, quiet, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is within a short walk of the local (Bugis) MRT and almost any cuisine and price range you could want. I stayed for 2 weeks while attending a course and it was a perfect no-frills base for that purpose. You don't get... More

We are a family of five with three teenage boys. We were in transit in Singapore for the night and wanted a hotel just for the night. The boys wanted free WiFi plus confortable, sterdy beds (not fold aways) and we wanted a tidy room with clean sheets plus coffee, all of which were provided. We are pleased with our... More

I with my wife stay here for 6 nights. Good enough. Friendly receptionist staff, they are always give us suggestion/direction. The room and hotel was clean. The Wifi Internet is so fast, you can get minimum 500 kB/s. There are 2 MRT stations (Bugis & Little India) nearby, just walk for 5 minutes, and you can go anywhere in Singapore.... More

On check in the staff were very friendly, but unfortunately when we reached our room we saw the real hotel. We paid extra for a room with a window. What we got was a room with a window that had been sealed by green glass bricks. This was covered by curtains that can't be opened. When we questioned if there... More

Staying in Little India

Neighborhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly colored saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colorful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Center, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colorful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.
