We only stayed one night before flying out of Changi, however the hotel was just what we needed. It's located on the edge of Little India and is a 20/25 minute walk away from the waters edge. Very close to queen street bus terminal if you're getting a bus in/out of Singapore, and only a 5 minute walk away from... More

The rooms are small to start with. However we did not spend much time in the hotel and went just to put our luggage and during sleep time. The hotel is conveniently located with bus stop, cabs and the MRT at walk-able distance. The hotel will meet the needs of a budget traveler and has no luxurious facilities.

I stayed at the hotel 81 rochor with my wife and a baby for 3 nights stay. First time we get there the staff was nice and very helpful, the check in process took some time but it's okay. Our room was superior room with a queen bed, it was quite small but clean, the bathroom was spacious. The hotel... More

This hotel is well located, close to Bugis junction and little India. I stayed in a twin room rather small and in need of upgrade. Basic accommodation with no frills. It is strongly recommended that the hotel provide their guests with a fridge in the room, especially in a warm country like Singapore. Good for 1-2 nights stay, not suitable... More

The room was VERY small, and DIRTY! It was dusty and I could find strings of hair everywhere on the room floor. Disgusting! Not suitable for family with children! The size of the room is just super small! I was traveling with 2 young children. The receptionist forced us to add an extra bed for a child over 8 years... More

My friends and I were on a visit to Singapore and we decided to stay in Hotel 81. I will just list down the pros and cons. Pros - 250m away from bugis MRT - budget hotel Cons - some rooms had no way to control the temperature and was like the North Pole 24/7 (rooms 101, 201, 301, 401)... More

Two nights here and nothing to complain, except very noisy and drunken other guests on the first night but that's life. The room was super small with no window and I found it overpriced (60€/night) but it was clean and worked for what we needed - sleep and shower as we were here to explore the city, not to sit... But this was worse than I could have imagined. Never had to sleep in a bed that has a plastic cover over the mattress. If I'd changed hotel I found I'd loose everything I'd committed to which was 3 nights. Yuck, find somewhere else. I've only said this much because I have to. Ok it's location is alright which was... We stayed here for 2 days, two days too many. The room is the size of a shoebox. There are no windows so you never know what time it is or whether it is day or night. There isn't even a clock to let you know, although maybe thats a good thing as that would really make the room look... More

Staying in Little India

Neighborhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly colored saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colorful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Center, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colorful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.
