Stayed 2 nights with family in January, but were disappointed. We had 3 rooms, which were rather small & quite outdated. For 2 of our rooms, we had to ask for new mattresses on 2 of the beds as they were so hard & not at all comfortable, the reception team did swap them out, we just couldn't understand how... More

Visited Singapore with family, found the hotel to be a good budget hotel, very close to the Little India area with lots of vegetarian food options. Room is ok, front desk manager was very helpful. We reached much before the check-in time and he went out of the way to get us some accommodation. Decent place to stay.

We stayed for a total of 6 nights in a family room at the Madras Hotel. This hotel is very budget friendly in an expensive place like Singapore during the new year. The rooms are clean and the staff very courteous. A simple breakfast is included as a part of the tariff. It is within 5 minutes walking distance from the... More

I stayed in this hotel with my family for 4 nights and they gave us the room facing the road with the balcony. It had been quite good until we heard the noise which came from the pub next to the hotel. The noise was noisy during the night. The toilet's door of our room can't be locked because it... More

We chose Madras Hotel because of the great reviews it had received and because it was not over-priced. Sadly, the hotel failed to live up to its perceived standards. Let me list its failings: a. The front desk staff were grumpy. It looks like the management has changed and the “friendly” staff, eulogised in earlier reviews, have left. b. There... More

A budget hotel in the heart of little India - a good location near the center of Singapore. The rooms are small and are equipped with a TV, kettle, air conditioner and free wifi. An adequate breakfast is included in the price. The hotel is within easy walking distance of both Bugis and Little India stations. If taking the train... More

Staying in Little India

Neighborhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly colored saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colorful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Center, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colorful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.
