As have never been to Boracay... i really didn't know what to expect. But I have stayed at several beach resorts on other islands... so I at least have something to compare. My sister and brother-in-law had stayed at the Pearl of the Pacific before but were quite excited as to our accommodations. My sister had booked everything on-line, and was expectant of the numerous reviews about ASYA she had read.

Asya is a new hotel that just opened late 2005 I believe. The hotel is beautiful, similar to the small intimate boutique hotels in Bali. This is probably the newest hotel in Boracay (2 new hotels Shangri-la and Discovery Shores are opening 2007 I think), so you can be assured that the rooms are very clean/new, especially the sheets! The bathroom is great, strong water pressure, modern fixtures (they even have that showerhead with "waterfall" effect). We booked the Courtyard suite for $160, 2 double beds, kitchenette, small pocket garden. Room was large enough to comfortable put in an extra bed.

It has a big enough pool, wi-fi connection and also houses Travesia a Spanish restaurant - food was ok.

Only downside is the location. Hotel does not have a beachfront location (2 minute walk to the beach but they dont have any cabanas etc) -- if Asya had a beachfront location and was at station 1 they could easily charge $200+ a room. It's at the end of Station 2...
