After the manic energy and constant hawking of the White Beach region it's a blessing to come back to the peace of Balinghai. Nestled on the hillside immediately above the gorgeous clear ocean, our stand alone bungalow had a private courtyard/deck area with a leafy outlook. We are a gay couple. Sometimes you have to expect a reaction from strangers... More

So heres the thing... If you're a SPG Gold or Platinum member odds are you're gonna hate this place. There is no air-conditioning, just fans. If you have bad knees, you're in trouble because depending on the type of 'House' you choose, you're in for a TON of steep stairs. If you're looking for a clear beach then you won't... More

Actually, we were looking forward to our stay at Balinghai, the pictures looked perfect and we were happy to have found a secluded spot even in touristy Boracay. We were paying 3 months in advance and did not even think of the cancelation policy. Nevertheless, when we arrived we knew after 5 minutes that we want to leave immediately… Honestly,... More

One thing I love about this place is that it is secluded from the rest of Boracay's busy place. Perfect for honeymooners and couples. You also have your own pice of beach and need not to worry about other people walking by. The food is relatively good and service is very good.

Background: Canadian Philippino owner bought a piece of paradise in the 80'es. Left the land for a decade while building small huts on the steep terrain. Now: a small eco friendly resort, simple accommodation, stunning beaches all hit on a rainforesty hillside with stunning views from every angle. Bonus: enjoy great drinks in the sunset while giant bats are circling... More

We arrived reasonably late after a long trip and was really looking forward to this place as it sounded so great. What a shock, it's built on the side of a hill so everything is up and down, the small beach is 180 steps down plus 180 steps back up! The meal we had was uneatable, the room wasn't bad... More

The setting here is absolutely stunning (albeit minuscule and a bit crowded) - the views, the sand, the settings and the grounds are heavenly. However, if you are making the trek across the island for the private dining experience on the beach - just don't! - Firstly, it was almost impossible to book. Right across the island, we made the... Stumbled upon this beach whilst trying to access the neighbouring Punra Bunga beach (which currently has no road access due to construction work) and I'm so glad I did. The beach forms part of the Baling High hotel and the cost of accessing the beach is 500 pesos per person (which includes a 500 spend at the onsite restaurant onsite).... More

Ok...i know what you are thinking when you scroll through all the different hotels & resorts on booking or agoda: Baling Hai seems rustic and a bit outdated in comparison to the shiny brand new hotel complexes dotted around the island. Let me tell you: the photos are deceptive. Yes, being one of the first resorts on the island, it... More

I love beaches but I've always been allergic to Boracay. It doesn't matter how many times it turns up in the list of top 10 beaches in the world, I told myself I'd never visit that overcrowded, overrated place. Until a dear friend of mine decided to have their beach wedding there. Having no choice, I was determined to make... More
