We spend 2 nights in one of the cabins here. It's a bit of a mixed bag. The walk to the cabins is about 200m from the road and the staff will get your luggage for you as well as bring it back when your stay is over. There is cold water showers only in the rooms. The good: The... More

come if you enjoy paying 17,500 rupiah (very expensive for sumatra) to sleep in a mouldy room hearing the rats in the roof, managers party til 4am each night with loud music. limited dining options nearby. no canoes available one motorbike and the beach is covered in dead fish which even the cats wont touch. no bed bugs only positive...come... On the last day of our Bukittinghi trip, we decided to go Padang Airport via Lake Maninjau. We descended from top of the hill to the lake level, stopped at many view points, and finally came to ground level. As it was lunch time by then, our tour guide took us to this place. We reached to this place by... More

Very nice location and good food. The place is quiet and has its own beach, suitable for swimming. We enjoyed the food very much and they also cook for vegetarians or other special requests. The place is not so new and some beds are more like a hammock. Some bungalows have good beds though. Chairs outside are not usable. We... More

We hade a great time at nova's paradise! Harris made us feel welcome, and it is a great place to relax at lake maninjau. The food is also real good. The rooms are basic and clean. We definitely recommend it. J and J

The location is beautiful, on a quiet private beach at Lake Maninjau. The cottages are very basic and not well maintained. The restaurant is good, they serve a tasty Gado Gado. The people working there are friendly. If you want the best spot on the lake you have to go there, if you like comfortable rooms don't top.

To beginn with, the 4* chosen for Arlen Novas Paradise go for the surroundings rather than the accommodation itself. The wellkept beautiful tropical garden, wonderfully situated at a clean beach with no fishponds in sight and the delicous food in the basic restaurant are making up the rather run down bungalows. Since the sudden death of Arlens 6 years, this... More

You have to walk about 150meters from the main road. a small path between next to the field rice paddies. Lovely view! Get ready to get dirty if you go there during the rain season. The homestay is located right in front of the beach, i can say it has a private access to the beach(lake). It's facing to the... More

Arlen's Guesthouse is located away from all the others hotels we saw in Maninjau in a very peaceful and secluded area directly on the sandy beach and away from fish farms. To get there from the main road you need to walk through rice paddies about 5 minutes and this is what protects it from all the noisy motorbikes and... More

There is no doubt that Arlen Nova has a most magnificent outlook onto the lake and surrounding caldera and once was probably a most magnificent place to stay, but it sorrows my heart greatly to see what state it has fallen into. I understand the original owner has died and it is for sale, which might explain why my emails... More
