Excited to visit Way Kambas Park to see the rhinos, and other critters, and were set up for a 3 night all inclusive Eco lodge experience at Satwa Ecolodge. The staff were very sweet and accommodating, and we were there "pre busy season". We shared a cottage in the nicely landscaped complex. The rooms are basic, just a fan. The... More

Your remarks about our Satwa Elephant Eco Lodge are acknowedged. It is the simplest of our group of eco lodges. Indonesia does not allow hotels to be established in national parks and thus we cannot do anything about this complaint. Many of our guests like being in an Indonesian village including the melodious mosque, cockrels and animal sounds. For persons... More

We spent three nights at the Satwa Lodge the last leg of a trip in which we stayed at four of the ecolodges. I am so pleased we made the effort to visit all the lodges which gave us a great impression of the difficulties of conservation in Indonesia and the attempts of the lodge owners to do so much... Our last lodge stay after being at Udayana Lodge, Bali, Labuan Bajo Komodo Island and Rimba Orangutan Lodge. This lodge being the smallest certainly did not disappoint. Rooms large, beds comfortable, ensuite good, fans. Large spacious green grounds and outdoor dining under cover - very pleasant couple of days. Food tasty and plenty, staff willing to assist in any way... More

Thank you for this great description of our Satwa Sumatra Eco Lodge and its activities. We especially appreciated your comments re the Elephant Centre where despite poor government funding, the staff and mahouts manage to run a meaningful centre to serve a population of elephants which would have been killed by the local people for eating their crops. My spouse and I spent three nights at the Satwa Lodge in the second week of April, the last leg of a trip in which we stayed at four of the ecolodges. Highlights of the stay included birding with Hari both on a night walk and an early morning walk in the forest and a boat trip on the Way... More

I was in Jakarta for business and wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle (and flooding). Satwa Ecoledge was the perfect find. I stayed two nights and was able to participate in the bird and gibbon trek, the elephant safari, and the river cruise. Although the tour guide, Harry, said the animals don't come out as often during... More

Dear Alan, I stayed at Satwa Ecolodge on 6-7 January 2014. Your staff were very friendly, the room is clean. The complex is so serene and Hari was a very helpful and knowledgeable guide. This is the only decent place you can find accommodation if you are visiting Way Kambas National park. The staff is very friendly and the food is good. Cottages are clean and well kept. You cant expect luxury when visiting national parks, Solar power is very well utilized for energy.
