I read the reviews before I went to this hotel and was sceptical. Well, it was superb. Everything was just wonderful. My room was comfortable, the food was delicious and the staff efficient, really friendly and pleasant. One of a number of hotels I stayed in during my tour of Indonesia-certainly joint 1st place.

I love the dutch-javanese interior and design. Service was very good. Nice food too! Close to Malioboro. And what i love too is the swimming pool, too bad I'm on a business trip so didn't have a chance to swim there. Overall, it's a pleasant stay in Phoenix hotel :)

We came to Yogyakarta during the school's holiday and stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in 2012 at the Deluxe room. Loved the dutch-javanese interior. The location was very strategic and close to Malioboro and the shopping places. The services were okay, the buffet breakfast was also good and the swimming pool was nice. A decent hotel in Yogyakarta... More

Medium sized hotel, colonial style. Convenient central location. Nice room overlooking the central court yard which is where the swimming pool is. Away from the noise of the Main Street. We'll priced happy hour drinks. Staff friendly. Nice food and reasonably priced.

Sure, its a beautiful hotel, nice rooms albeit somewhat lacking in decoration. The front desk has one guy working there while answering the phone talking to doorman and settling bills while half a dozen hotel women blissfully wander around without helping anyone. Quite a bizarre scene, really felt for the front desk manager who wasnt getting any help. Also, I... More

The Phoenix is a place that reminds me of the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok, or the Peninsula in Hong Kong. Historic, well preserved, well run, and high quality facilities and excellent service at every stage of your stay. We loved this hotel. The major difference between the Phoenix and other 5-star hotels is the price, about 1/3 of most other... More

Excellent hotel overall. The only caveat I have is that this is an old building (it's a heritage house), so don't expect ultra-modern interiors, including the bathrooms. But nevertheless, Phoenix Hotel is really outstanding - the interiors are very intricate, the bedrooms, while a little small, are very well kept, and the service is really top notch. They even offer... More

The classic design is immaculate and detailed, and yet fresh in appeal. The ambience is just right for every area to make the guests feel really comfortable. Service staff excels with a warm smile always!

I recently stayed for 3 luxurious nights at this outstanding hotel. Everything from check in to check out was a delight. There was 1 highlight, the hotel car driver Sabril, who went out of his way to see that my tour was efficient, memorable and safe. He provided me with advice and help not only for Yogyakarta but also my... More
