This is the second time I have stayed at Kampoeng Djawa, in which I stayed for 2 nights in July and was as good as remembered it. This place is perfect if you want a budget option and want to avoid a sterile hotel room. The rooms are small but very comfortable and there is a nice area to sit... More

Worst experience in Indonesia... When we arrived and announced us, the 2 guys at reception seemed little bit worried, they talked and laughed together in Indonesian so we didn't understand. After some checks, they said (like it was usual and there was no problem!) that they had overbooked the hotel and we'll need to go "at the other hotel from... More

This is a long overdued review but i finally got to write it down! Stayed in Kampoeng Djawa in November 2013 for a 5 day trip and spent all 5 days in there. If you are the type who just wants clean basic amenities and value for money places, this place is definitely a score. Had a basic room downstairs... More

Kampoeng Djawa is a nice, small guesthouse with a garden in between the rooms. The rooms are smallish but clean and great for this price. The staff was very helpful to find our way around and to the sights in the surroundings (borobudur, prambanan). They accidentally overbooked our room but solved it fine by finding us another place to stay.... More

Located in prawirotaman a quiet area of the city, south of Maliboro St, but with lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful. It's a very basic hotel no frills or fancy bathroom, but comfy bed, free water and coffee and hot shower is all you need! Great value for money given the location. I'd recommend... More

Me and my wife arrived earlier than expected in Yogya and the frontdesk said they were full, however the swapped a guest so we could stay 2 days in this wonderful hotel. The atrium is designed in old colonial style and each afternoon you can enjoy afternoon tea here.

Lots of potential here but it was SO DIRTY. The sheets and towels were unusable. Breakfast was abysmal. The staff were nosy and made us feel very uncomfortable. They arranged a tour for us and we got totally ripped off. One day we woke up at 4am to find the staff drinking and being so loud by the rooms. Wouldn't... More

We emailed Kampoeng Djawa and they immediately replied. Making a reservation was a breeze. We've been in Yogya a year before, and we enjoyed Jalan Prawirotaman more than Gang I and Gang II. There are a lot of restaurants along this street. They offer free coffee all day. They gave us free breakfast too. The room was pleasant, a bit... More

Very nice guest house (Indonesian style and decoration), well located in a pleasant street with restaurants and bars. The staff was very friendly (they welcomed us with some tea and banana pancakes) and they helped us to organize our day trip to Borobudur. The room was enough big and clean (the bathroom also), with a private patio. We really recommend... More
