Dreadful. Probably one of the least enjoyable nights I have ever spent in a hotel. We booked this as a cheap option, not realising how simple the hotel was. I mean bless the staff they were very nice, but when we turned up at 2am from Jakarta, we had to get a lady to show us through the winding back... More

We arrived in Yogyakarta at 3 a.m. and were just glad to get a room. The bedroom was more or less ok, but the bathroom was dirty and smelled very intensively and this horrible odor spread into the bedroom. Since the owner's friends were sleeping in the lobby of the hostel and apparently were having breakfast in the corridors, it... More

We choosed Merapi hotel because of the cheap price offered by online booking website. But the total value almost same with the actual price. The bed was nice, the blanket smells good to, but the bathroom is kinda terrible. I'd never felt like taking bath there, and the smells of the bathroom will spread into your room right away. Nice... Stayed for one night in the Merapi because we were tired of looking around. Rates for AC room are too high comparing to what they offer. The bed is good and the rooms are kind of spacious, still any other hostel in town can offer the same. However, personnel and staff are friendly as anywhere in Indonesia. Hygiene standards were... Recommended by a friend, and we were told that this is one of the best hotel at sosrowijayan street. but we rather dissapointed with the damp room and dirty bathroom, even though it was just a 1 night stay. Had a hard time finding the hotel, and passed by few better hotels recommended by Lonely planet - e.g. Hotel 1001... More

We only stayed one night at Merapi Hotel as we made a stop-over there. We were looking for a centraly located place. The Hotel is only a 2 minute walk from Malioboro which is probably the most famous road in Yogya with a lot of Hotels, Shopping Mall and food stalls. Anyhow the rooms where very small and fulfilled only... More

this hotel located only 5 minutes walk to malioboro, which makes it really good location to access all the shops and food stalls at night. however, since the hotel is in sosrowijayan, which is a small alley, the hotel is rather small. a 4-story building with no garden and a small lobby. they have many room type. from fan to... Had booked this place in advance based on website which made the place look fine...the photos must have been taken many many years ago! This place was damp, rooms small, not a decent shower but one that is over a bucket deals, air con did not seem to be doing anything (it was hotter in the room than it was... More

We stayed at Merapi Hotel because we thought we will be going on tours all day around Yogyakarta and not be at the hotel much, but it is really not worth it. Very cheap, but there are also nice other cheap options in close proximity. We booked for 2 nights over Agoda but only stayed for 1 and rather moved... More

We settled on this hotel because we arrived late and the first five places we tried were full. We wished we hadn't! The staff on reception were lovely and friendly but the rooms were dreadful. We all agreed to stay one night but after a meal and drink and another look at the rooms, we all decided we just couldn't... More
