Like the others say, it's a great location. The hotel itself is OK. The water was hot, the shower leaked (like many Chinese hotels), the breakfast was just food, and the front desk was all business - not friendly, not unfriendly -- just business. It was clean enough for me (USA man who lives in China). Hey! I didn't come... More

good location, good stay. But i still cannot used to the system where i cannot flush away used-toilet-paper into the toilet bowl, this seems to be common in China. We chose a twin room and add on 1 bed, just nice for 3 of us in 1 room. Enjoyed my holiday with my family. Simple breakfast with some Tibetan delicacies.

The big advantage of this hotel is its location. Walking distance to Potala Palace and the temple. The rates in the lobby is outrageous and not what I paid through the tour agent. Do not book direct. It has a sign that says 4 star but in international standards it is only at best a 3 star. The breakfast is... More

This is rated as 4 star and hotel rooms are reasonably good and comfortable, hotel rooms are recently renewed and good looking. this hotel has a very good location which is right in front of Jokhang temple and easy to walk around. Restaurants are available all around it.

I stayed at the Thangka Hotel for 2 nights in October 2014 and the location is great - just a minute to walk to the Jokhang Temple and the Barkhor Street. The room was very spacious, but the carpet could have been cleaner. Breakfast was o.K., but more chinese style, than western style. The reception area is plain with only... More

The location is excellent. 15 minutes walk to the Potala Palace and just few meters to the Jokhang Temple and markets. Some monasteries are quite close as well. The breakfast was just ok. A mix of Tibetan-Chinese dishes as well as some international ones. The room was a bit cold but the air-con helped to keep it warm. Hot water... More

We stayed there for 3 nights. The room was very cold all the time. We need up getting a portable heater in our room! The carpets are very very dirty (I normally can tolerate it but this one was really bad). The front desk staff is Chinese and can't speak English. The beds are very hard. The internet is very... Booked as part of a tour through a Lhasa based Tour company this hotel was somewhat of a disappointment. While the staff were friendly & helpful the Hotel itself was rather run down and grubby and the corridors a bit dark. The carpet in our room was very dirty however all other aspects of the room particularly the bathroom were... More

Thangka Hotel is not the 4 stars hotel that you expects, far from it. But it's very near to the Jongka temple and food and shopping area. The hotel is as clean as it can be what is expected in Tibet. The breakfast is OK with limited variety of food. Would recommend to anyone who do not expect the same... More

The location of this hotel is the best, right in the middle of old town, and it goes downhill from there. The buffet breakfast was less than average, the rooms 70' s holiday inn style, no door on the bathroom and the thing l found the worst it bills itself as a nonsmoking hotel and doesn't enforce any smoking rules, so basicly a...
