Yak Hotel in Lhasa is a beautiful hotel in Tibetan style. Tibetan women, ornamented in beautiful Tibetan costumes manage the reception. It's always busy at the reception. You can just sit in the beautiful decorated hall and enjoy the activity of hotelguests, groups of tourists and guides. The hotel including restaurant Dunya and travel agency Shigatse Travel is situated around... More

Stayed as part of a group tour. This was one of the better hotels we had in Tibet. The location was very central. My room was large and comfortable with a good bathroom. It was at the back of the courtyard, so was very quiet if a bit dark. The restaurant (run as a separate business) had lovely staff and... More

Firstly, excellent location, near Barkor Street and Jokhang Temple, plus lots of eateries. Secondly, do NOT take a dorm room. The room itself was ok, 4 beds ( not bunks), but the bedding was grimy, thin and had many holes, including an 30 cm rip in the sheet. The shared bathroom often had vegetable peelings left by the housekeepers as... More

Stayed three nights in this hotel acclimatizising before travelling to higher altitudes. The room we got was located in the backyard building and maybe therefore quite silent. The rooms facing to the street might get some noice. The beds were ok, also the bathroom, but warm water was not always available. We got only little daylight into the room and... More

This hotel us used by a lot of tour companies, and its location is probably its best asset. It is only a short walk to numerous shopping and dining areas. This review is based on the standard room, not the more deluxe options available at extra cost. The room is OK, enough space and the beds are comfortable. Wifi varies.... More

Very central, lovely rooms, comfortable beds, warm quilts/duvets, nice shower and bath, very ethnic decor. Rooftop breakfast means dawn photos of the Potala Palace. Walk up to see the palace at night to see lights and hear the army band playing. Quick walk to Jokhang temple, and western food ( Snowline and Lhasa Kitchen) very close to excellent shopping just... We were brought to this guest house (it's not a hotel) as part of a Tibet package tour. Check in was quick and easy. We walked ourselves to our room and upon entering realised we would be sharing with 4 random men. Now I did book a budget tour, but it wasn't THAT budget I can tell you that right... More

Situated in the center of old city, Yak (not Yake) Hotel has large rooms with an interesting interior design. Large soft beds. Large bathroom, but separated by two glass curtain-walls from room. Towels were not changed daily, but folded back to be reused!!! Awful! Some teabags but no sugar in the room. Poor WiFi (no Facebook or Youtube access, which... More

Very good location friendly staff good breakfast working wifi ! Located very close to Jokhang temple and local shops and restaurants, in the middle of the busy street but in the heart of Lhasa. Overall as a budget hotel i can say it is nice and worth of staying for 2-3 nights.
