The Yak features comfortable rooms, a bar and restaurant with a good menu, friendly staff and is well located within walking distance of most Lhasa city attractions including the Potala palace. Rooms are well decorated with modern bathrooms.

The breakfast was good when there were big groups staying. It's a very eastern hotel. Stay in the rooms on the main road and not in the back for best wi fi reception. The staff did the best they could do to be assistive. For the price I would recommend this hotel. It was clean and centrally located. It had... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and because of the location we would not stay anywhere else. We stayed at the building at the back and was very quiet to get a good sleep. It is close to Jokang temple and all markets and souvenir shops. We found a restaurant close to the hotel called Snowland recommended by our tour... More

Being Lhasa and on a G adventures tour you do not expect too much but this hotel was actually very good. There are a few buildings in the complex and we stayed in the one in the rear. This as far as I know is a better building as the rooms are newer and as they are further from the... More

I will start with the positive of this hotel- location is amazing and can not be beat. Now into the review: The hotel is located on a busy road and it seems it just gets louder at night...the hotel attempted to muffle the sound by adding another layer of windows but the kicker is that the temperature is whatever the... The yak hotel is on a main road in Old town Lhasa, it has lots of tour groups using it. We used it as part of a tour and stayed for four nights. The hotel was very convenient with friendly staff. In the reception area you did get lots of guides sitting around smoking. We had a good size room,... More

My initial impression of the Yak hotel was not bad but quickly went downhill. The one positive is a great location. However, the sheets and towels had numerous holes, the carpet didn't seem to have been cleaned in ages (our shoes were dirtier from inside than out!). The bathroom shower curtain was covered in black mold and the bathroom stunk... More

We were not impressed with the state of our room. The room would be quite spacious if it wasn't so crammed full of furniture. As it was there was a 2 foot pace between the end of the bed and the arm chair. The bathroom was the big shocker because a gauzy curtain was used to cover an entire wall... More

The Yak was part of a tour package so I had no option but to put up with it. Rooms are awful. Our first room had fece spray on the side of the toilet and see thru sheer curtain between the bath and bedroom! Was never cleaned properly! Fortunately our tour guide got us moved quickly. Next room was not... More

You shouldn't go to Tibet with the expectation of luxury accommodations. The Yak Hotel is comfortable enough, though you might be chilly on a cool night in the absence of heating. Everything mostly works, though the Internet access is flaky even without the annoyance of the "Great Firewall". Breakfast is on the roof, so you get a good view out... More
