Positives: location; non smoking rooms Negatives: the bed was hard Hard HARD — virtually no sleep the first night despite two sleepless nights on trains beforehand, next two nights used duvets as extra padding Breakfast was a joke — needed an early start first day so arrived about 7:35, seems no one bothered to tell the kitchen staff breakfast was... This hotel have fairly good location and comfortable rooms, rated as 4 star and good breakfast. there are two different build in the hotel, so building A is better than B, and the cost is also higher too.

I give the Gangjiang (spelling used by the hotel) high marks for having reliable hot water, reasonably clean rooms (they sweep the carpets, not vacuum) with all the basic things functioning. The main advantage is that no rooms face the noisy main street, even though the location is right in the old town. We stayed here two times, each for... More

This large hotel, owned by the Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse, is conveniently located near the edge of Barkhor Square and the Jokhang Temple. There is a medical clinic and a gift shop in the lobby. The clinic came in handy as one member of our group was having difficulties with the altitude. The gift shop prices are very flexible--they offered... More

This is a big modern hotel within easy walk to old town and you can also explore the more modern parts of Lhasa from here too. The rooms are nice and the beds are firm but good. Has everything you would want.

The hotel is quite good, stayed here a few nights. It is very good located with the Barkhor Market at the other side of the street and the Jokhang just a few minutes away. Rooms are okay, the bed is very good. Breakfast is okay with different things to choose from, one day better than the other.

Stayed at this hotel for three days for acclimatisation in Tibet. It is a very decent hotel with clean and modern amenities. Pros Tucked away from the main road in an enclave, shielded from traffic noise. 10-minute walk from the Jokhang Temple. Walking distance to restaurants and eateries. Clean sheets/bed/pillows. Modern bath/sit-down cubicle. A clinic is available at the lobby... More

I found the room to be very comfortable. I like firm beds and the bed was firm, not hard. The only issue was the shower. It was technologically very advanced but tiny. Everything was very clean in the room. The location cannot be beat. It is right on the Barkhor so very easy to get to shops and restaurants and... More

On the main drag but set back from the road so it is quiet and peaceful. The Jokhang Temple is about a 10 minute walk away as are most of the half decent restaurants. There is a street market across the road each evening from about 8pm that sells the normal trinkets at about 20-25% of the daytime prices. The... More

This is a good, centrally located Hotel. It is a convenient location just requiring about half an hour to walk to, at ease, the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple and Barkhor. The Hotel provides postal services which we used but none of the letters have reached their destination (as we returned to Australia on 28 May 2014). I suppose, the... More
