We stayed here for 3 nights mid October while in Lhasa. It was booked via our agency snowlion tours. We took 2 rooms, 1 triple and 1 double. The triple was just basically a double with an extra bed. The regulars beds were comfy enough albeit hard. The extra bed was extra HARD. I am used to sleeping on harder... More

The hotel is has an amazing location 5 minutes walk from barkor street and the Jokang temple. It is a typical tibetan hotel no heat in the lobby of breakfast room and the beds are fairly comfortable. Breakfast is a buffet style and is mainly Asian however the chef will cook eggs for you. The air conditioning in the rooms... More

This hotel is located near the old town so location is just perfect. It was right on the Beijing road which is their main road but it also has a small courtyard which is nice and cozy. When we first arrived, a friend of ours felt a little sick from AMS (altitude sickness) and they have a doctor ready to... More

It is a big hotel but outdated. Location is ok, close to Jokhang temple and Barkhor street. A lot of minimarket and restaurant in the area. Room is spacious, bed is quite hard but we found that our hard to sleep is due to the thin oxygen level, and not the bed quality. Breakfast is fine with many varieties, the... More

All the facilities are bad and many things in the room do not work: plugs, lights, ... Reception is not open 24 h and breakfast is available only from 7.30. Only good thing is the location very close to Jokhang and barkhor street.

A few minutes from downtown and in a busy commercial area, the hotel have a quiet inner court ( it is advisable your room to face it rather the exterior), an impressive lobby and two (slow) elevators serving the three floors; the rooms are good, the bathrooms fairly large and Internet access only in the lobby (when it works). The... More

The hotel is very luxurious especially after staying in some awful places around the Kailash region. It is very clean with nice touch of Tibetan decor and a fruit basket in the rooms. The shower is a strange beast that is self contained with side jets, fan, lights, and funny knobs without any indication of what they do. Breakfast is... More

The Gang Gyan lists itself as a "4 Star Hotel", however it is quite similar to most of the other 3 Star hotels in Lhasa. It is a good hotel located towards the end of the Tibetan Quarter. Jokhang Temple is about a 10 minute walk away as are most of the good restaurants in Lhasa. The rooms are clean... More

Stayed here in April. I have nothing good to say about this place. Extremely cold in the hotel. Heating only if you ask for a heater. Problems with water and electricity going off in the evening/overnight. Breakfast was miserable and I would only stay there if there was no where else in the city to go.

We stayed here for two, two night stays in April 2013: one on the way to Everest Base Camp and the second on the way back. The best thing you could say about this place is that it is barely tolerable and only slightly better than camping in the street in a tent! Of our 4 nights, the electricity "failed"... More
