I stayed with my partner at the Garden View for three weeks during December 2014. I would definitely recommend the property, but with just one caveat - the location. The hotel is located just above Central in the Mid-Levels district. It's definitely walkable (although up a hill and so could get a little sticky in the humid summer months), although... More

It's an ok hotel in almost every aspect, with a central location, supermarket just around the corner and the view might be quite good as well, if you'll get a higher floor room. The one real problem with it is that it's located uphill and it's a rather steep hill I might add. So what you save on the room... More

When we arrived in evening, the booked room was double booked but the receptionist didn't open this info to us and proceeded check-in and deposit first then asked to move to the other place which they were managing as residence away around 10 min from the hotel. The receptionist explained there's no more available rooms but finally they offered hotel... More

Stayed a week in Hong Kong based at the garden view. There are some good points but these are limited and outweighed by the bad. On the good side the rooms are of good size and clean, and this is where the good points stop. The hotel staff are not very personable at all. Having not been informed that the... More

This hotel was recommended to us by a friend. We stayed 6 nights and had a very good experience overall. First the location was perfect for our purpose, quite central, can walk to almost every thing in Central Hong Kong, at the same time, it's off the heavy pedestrian traffic area. Convenient restaurant on the main floor and grocery store... More

The hotel is in a great location right next to the botanical gardens and great for walking around Soho and other areas for food a drinks. The reception staff were difficult to deal with and the language barrier made this worse. I arrived early at the hotel they could not give me a room until 11am, granted this is not... More

Stayed here in January 2015 after great experience in 2012. Once again I was very impressed. The hotel is not luxurious but it is clean and very comfortable with wonderful views over botanical gardens and the skyscrapers of HK Island. There is nothing like crashing into bed after a day traversing the hills and shopping malls of Hong Kong, to... More

This hotel was available at a relatively good rate on Trivago. It is not located in the heart of the city but it only takes 10 minutes to walk downhill from the hotel to Central MRT station. If you are not keen on the walk back up the hill then the 12A bus goes from Central right past the hotel.... More

This is the second time I've stayed at the Garden View. The first time was with young kids (aged 7 and 9) and the location was fine for me and them and we didn't have a problem walking into town as its not that far. We hopped over to the mid level escalator through the zoological garden and we were... More

Beautiful hotel that dominates the botanical garden, and near Central. It is the preferred tourist location with shops and restaurants around. Even if the room was not very big, it remains well ordered and clean. It was the main thing. As for the staff, they are welcoming and pleasant. For the catering: I only tasted the breakfast which was copious... More

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
