Hotels are expensive in Hong Kong. So don't expect a luxurious room at many of the hotels in Hong Kong. Empire hotel is very conveniently located on Hong Kong island. Many eateries around the hotel makes finding a good meal not an issue. Hotel is located near the wan chai MTR station. Causeway Bay, Central, Tsim Tsa Tsui are all... More

The empire seems a fine hotel at competitive prices in a good location. Two issues to be careful of. The aircon is constant and pre set at low temperature which eventually you start to notice as the room gets quite cool especially at night. You can switch it off by the button at your bedside locker not at the thermostat... More

Stayed here for 3 nights with a little apprehension in regards to some reviews but found it to be a pleasant stay with none of the problems that other people had. Stayed on one of the higher floors and found a clean tidy room with a comfortable bed, nothing outstanding in décor but price wise a real bargain for its... More

Brilliant location and lovely room :) and for a very reasonable price. The area can be a bit noisy, we were staying when the world cup was on so noisy expats watching the footy in the pubs nearby was a kind of lullaby for us :p Also it is an area where you will see ladies of the night so... More

We were looking for hotels that are in between Central and Causeway Bay area, The Empire fits the bill being in Wan Chai and literally 5 minutes walk away from the MTR station. Get the higher level rooms, Wan Chai area gets rather noisy at night especially on weekends.

Had a 1 night stay at this hotel recently and can say that the biggest factor why I chose this over others in Wan Chai was the great price I secured through the skyscanner search. As it turned out the hotel is in a prefect location if you like to stay close the pubs and clubs for Wan Chai. Literally... More

location: its a 5-10mins walk from wan chai mtr close to the wan chai street market and it is possible to walk to causeway bay or hop on the tram infront of the mtr room: big enough for two to three people. large king size bed, clean sheets soft pillow. it was big enough to open two luggages, ample space... Well, this is Hong Kong, hotel is in stiff competition, and unfortunately this is a hotel in Hong Kong! It is a straightforward hotel, busy lobby that was basically to have enough space to house enough people, hardly anything else. Room is the typical HK hotel, small but reasonably efficient, the room I have have a glass wall between shower... More

This hotel is a disgrace in every aspect of service, client relations and awful (80s style) accommodation. The first room had a broken safe, so they moved me to an upgraded room. Looked ok at first glance but upon return from diner I found that there were no electric plugs near or behind the work desk! When asking it was... More

Was there from 25-29 Dec 2014. 1. Check in/Check Out: Check in was received by a chap who was friendly. Unfortunately, at 335pm when I arrived at the hotel, the room was still not ready. Had to wait another 15 minutes of which then the room was ready. Check out was fine and the chap that did my check out... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
