I was attending a conference in Hong Kong and found this gem of a hotel downtown. Location is very convenient to the convention center and many choices for meals afterwards. Upon arriving at the HK Airport you take the Express Train to Central HK. There are free shuttle buses to the hotel (L2 bus if I remember) which make it... more

Central location but in a street in night clubs and prostitution. Very small rooms, a bathroom with rudimentary shower . Breakfast totally chinese, without ocidental food. more

Well located, good price, friendly enough staff BUT they need to get the wireless internet sorted. I stayed six days; it took 4 days for a technician to reset the wireless unit on my floor so the signal would hold stability. Business travelers rely on internet and don't mind paying HK$20 per hour for good stable wireless access. more

Have just had a brilliant week at this hotel. Was in Hong Kong on a shopping and sightseeing trip and had a great time. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, the hotel is in a great location for sightseeing - yes, it's in the red light district but it's very safe and there are lots of... more

Ticked all the boxes, showing its age, (carpet very stained) but over all clean and tidy. FAntastic location near MRT. Tip - free internet available down first level of MRT (once you have gone through the turnstile) - usually did not have to wait to use one of the three available. Great for checking your email. DO; the bus trip... more

Period of stay: 21-26 Feb 2009 The MTR station (Wan Chai) was about 7-10 minutes walk away, which was convenient if not for the numerous bars and pubs that I had to pass along the way, which made the area a tad complex and sleazy. The hotel wasn't top-rate, but for the price that we were paying, I wouldn't expect... more

We stayed here for 2 nights in May on a stopover to New Zealand. This hotel is centrally located in Wan Chai within walking distance of everything (ferries, Victoria Peak, HK Park, etc). It's on a road with lots of girly bars, but I wouldn't say it's a 'red light' district really. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our... more

I stayed at the Wharney between Feb 14-19 2008. At first i was a little unsure, because of some of the negative reviews i'd read on this site. When i got there i was greeted by very friendly staff, and the check-in process was quick and simple. The room was a good size. the double bed was a little firm,... more
