We stayed at the Wharney Hotel on our way back from Shenzen. This hotel is in a great location, plenty of bars & restaurants close by, close to the MTR station and a few blocks from the markets. Good sized rooms by HK standards, beds are pretty soft too which is hard to find in HK...You can catch the tram... More

Go for an exec room without breakfast. Exec rooms allow you to use the top floor business room which provides free coffee etc all day and a basic free breakfast each morning. This makes the hotel good value. Wifi in room was good. 10min walk to Star Ferry. Close to MTR. Rooms are small but fine.

The hotel is very close to the MTR and location is good. The rooms are small but manageable. The hotel needs some renovation to be done for the bathrooms. But apart from that its a good value for money giving its location.

This was my second visit to the hotel with the first being 3 ½ years ago and although it looked a little tired first time round it is now starting to look a bit rough. For a big hotel the rooms are fairly small but that can be expected with such a big population unless you are prepared to pay... More

Well, thought that we're gonna get something more but the experience didn't quite live up to the expectations. First of all, the service was a bit off. Like I reviewed earlier in booking.com, it felt a little fake. It's all about the appearance and in my opinion the hotel should treat all the customers well all the time. When we... More

My first stay in Hong Kong but found the location in the centre of Wan Chai to be convenient to catching the MTR. Room was comfortable and of a decent size. The hotel is within walking distance of Times Square a major mall in Hong Kong. There are many restaurants and bars in the vicinity. The only real problem was... More

Aside from a strong musty smell in the hallways and bedroom, the bathroom in my room was atrocious. There was serious extensive mold and rust, and the toilet & bath tub were old and pink. They looked they were installed in the early 1980s. I'm not fussy about hygiene, but lying in bed, I could smell the bathroom and that... More

This was my first trip to HKG and while it was official , the hotel and location was comfortable and provided a holiday mood . It is surrounded with quite a lot of options for eat out and shopping . The nearest metro station is just walking distance . Since its centrally located, it is easy getting around. Cabs are... More

I've stayed in many hotels in HK while attending events at the Convention Centre. Wharney is the best easily in terms of location, price, and service. Right in the heart of Wan Chai, close to MTR, modern, clean, great service and very well priced. Book it now.

This hotel is centrally located to plenty nightlife and bars and is also very close to the MTR station (Wan Chai). The room I was allocated was fairly high up in the building and overlooked the main road and bars, even so I had little disturbance by noise. I have stopped in many Hong Kong hotels over the years and... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
