I've stayed in many hotels in HK while attending events at the Convention Centre. Wharney is the best easily in terms of location, price, and service. Right in the heart of Wan Chai, close to MTR, modern, clean, great service and very well priced. Book it now.

This hotel is centrally located to plenty nightlife and bars and is also very close to the MTR station (Wan Chai). The room I was allocated was fairly high up in the building and overlooked the main road and bars, even so I had little disturbance by noise. I have stopped in many Hong Kong hotels over the years and... More

I have stayed here a number of times over the last few years but last week was the first time since the renovation. I ended up in the Executive Plus room on 21st floor. Oh wow, what an impression the hotel made on me...all the good points from before stand, the good location, value for money, etc...Now with the renovation... More

I stayed at 'The Wharney' for two nights at the end of an Asian business trip and having many Hong Kong hotels to compare against (see my other reviews) this one was not one of the good ones. The room itself was comfortable enough as was the bed but the bathroom just seemed dirty with lots of black mould in... More

the good thing about this hotel is that it is close to MTR station. Rooms have poor acoustics because you can here the rowdy and noisy tourists shout when inside your room so good luck in sleeping. Beds are stiff! After a long day touring, I would love to lie down to comfortable bed but this was not the case.... More

PROS: - Very close to MTR Wan Chai station - Lot's of shopping options in the area - Pubs and restaurants nearby. - breakfast buffet includes several dishes. CONS: - quite expensive for the offered amenities (e.g. small rooms) - "old-looking" rooms, there's a musty smell everywhere. - breakfast is good but absolutely no variety from day to day. Also,... My regular stop-over hotel when travelling into North Asia. Easy to get to via the HK Airport Express Train and free minibus #1 has you at the hotel within an hour of getting off the plane. Smooth and efficient. Staff are professional if somewhat stiff and inflexible, a bit like Cathay Pacific staff. Rooms are quite nice and reasonably modern... More

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel - the first time was five years ago and there have definitely been improvements. On this visit we were offered room 1818. This room had a stale smell. We asked if they had any upgrades available and, after paying extra, we were given room 2103. The smell in this... More

Regularly stay here. WG is a good standard hotel, clean rooms, safe environment and friendly staff. Price varies thru the year depending on events at nearby exhibition center. Bedroom not large but enough you don't have to dance around your suitcase when moving around. Internet good for business needs, business center is small with printers available. If u want a... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
