Prime location in Wan Chai close to metro and Hennessey Road bus stops. Rooms were clean and well maintained. The wifi situation is a little weird but adequate (one device per room allowed on the hotel wifi, but you can hotspot the in room 3G phone to support additional devices). We got a great deal online 3 nights before arriving,... More

Stayed at the Wharney several times very good location and convient to several markets and MRT. Rooms were clean but small but a good value for the dollar. In the middle of good restaurants and several bars to have a beer and relax .

A pretty good hotel considering the money we paid, especially as we are talking about Hong Kong! The location can be consider good, as being a central one, in the middle of Wanchai area, close to the MTR station (5-7 minute walking), but also close to a lot of shops, groceries, restaurants and pubs. It's a small inconvenience that is... More

nice location and good breakfast choices, if you are after shopping it is just stones throw from wan chai market and 2 minutes walk to wanchai MTR. The hotel is also located near bars and nightlife area and restaurants

If you want to be right in the heart of fun, I'm pretty sure this is the place to be. Many a good night can be had by simply walking out of the front door, regardless of the time. Nice rooms and staff were very helpful.

Yes this hotel is in the red light district. Why it would bother people is quite perplexing. The red light district is family friendly - your young children are not wandering the streets at 10pm, nor are the people that visit such areas for adult entertainment (or those providing them) interested in corrupting your child; they wouldn't even understand what... Right at the heart of wanchai with only a few minutes walk to the MTR, tram, bus station. Initially I thought there would be disturbances at night reading other reviews but the rooms were quiet and peaceful. The rates were reasonable and the rooms were fine. I liked that they offered a handy in each room which was easy to... More

Conveniently located in Wan Chai, nice room, quality mattress and amenities. Perfect location lots of resto & pubs nearby, 8 mins walk to Wanchai MTR station, Wifi is quite fast, breakfast just standard. Just 5 - 8 mins. walk to Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Pacific Place and Golden Bauhinia Square

Staid here for mines and money and the 7 s , if you want to be in the heart of Wanchai , close to the MTR , this is a good spot. Has the Canny man Scottish bar in its basement , rooms are fine as is Wi-Fi . But perhaps not the place to bring family , the sites... More

The Wharney, is not exactly a roomy place. The room was small, with 2 single beds, which is not my preference, but overall, the location won the day. I was there over New Years 2015, and the nightlife was good all around the Hotel. It was surrounded by pubs and restaurants, and easy to get around. The subway station to... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
