My family and I have recently retuned from a wonderful holiday and Hong Kong and Japan. We chose The Excelsior, as I had previously stayed at the hotel on business some 20 years ago and was impressed with the location and quality of the room and amenities. I was equally impressed on this visit. Whilst the hotel would benefit from... More

We stayed here for four nights at the start of our vacation, the hotel is in a good location within Causeway Bay close to shopping malls, and all transport links for the city.On arrival the staff on reception were very polite and helpful,as were all the staff we met during our stay. Our room was on the twentieth floor with lovely side views... Despite the age of the hotel and the rooms do look tired from that fact - the hotel staff really made up for it with their outstanding level of service from the doorman, front desk and the support staff. Been a loyal fan for the last 15 years and will continue to be.

Firstly, the good bits. The hotel is in a great location that is undergoing a regeneration with fashion walk shopping nearby. The staff are also extremely helpful and our room a deluxe harbour view was a reasonable size. However the bedroom was definitely a bit tired around the edges and in need of refurbishment; sofa old and saggy, bathroom dated... More

The Excelsior Hotel is a good choice if you want to stay in the middle of the Causeway Bay shopping district, and want a generally good standard type-hotel. Excellent location within walking distance of all the shopping areas in Causeway Bay area. MTR access is only less than 2-5 minutes away. The room furnishings look a bit dated but it... More

Love the care and attention of the staff all the time. I come back to this hotel each time and they always remember what I like. The hotel sincerely prepares to welcome me by even changing out the lights as per my request. And who would not enjoy the famous yummy egg tarts on arrival! Room size is probably above... More

Fantastic hotel in Hong Kong with done of the biggest rooms you will see in the city. Great location bang in the middle of causeway Bay with easy access to the hktdc fair complex in Wan Chai. MTR stations and taxis are also nearby. The roof top pub has a spectacular view of the city and is a great place... More

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon. The service was good, the staff are very polite and helpful. We were also provided with a bottle of champagne and some fruit as a honeymoon gesture which was a nice surprise and much appreciated. The restaurant is a little on the pricey side but the quality food is... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
