Great location (very central), close to park for running/exercise outside. Hotel look and feel is outdated. However Wifi quality very fast; Coffee house at ground floor probably best cappuccino in town and great for fast and quick snacks.

Rooms are pretty good with a nice view and quite spacious. The hotel is ideally located and commuting to the town is very easy as taxis are available easily and the hotel is near to the MRT. Lots of eateries nearby.

Nice hotel, good staff, but I don't know why no one credit card was accepted in the machines... And no one could solve it. I had to cash money in atm (using the same credit card that was refused) and pay by cash. First time it happens.

Stayed at The Excelsior for business for 5 days/nights. Very good location for shopping but located a 10 minute taxi ride to the financial district and the transportation hubs. The staff was very friendly, the internet was reliable, and the food was decent, but not amazing. There was a pub in the basement and my English colleague mentioned that it... More

The location is probably the best feature. It's connected to the world trade center, and its also steps away from sogo which is connected to Causway Bay train station. So if you are here for shopping, Times Square and Hysan Place are walkable distance away. The hotel is quite old and you can feel it. It's modestly decorated. You could... More

My husband and I stayed at the Excelsior for 3 nights for business. When we checked in we were surprised by the room we got. VERY small, about the size of a cruise ship cabin including the bathroom. Our view was almost none existent as there were large concrete walls jutting out on either side of the window. We had... More

They all very approachable and will attend to your requests to ensure that your stay is as enjoyable as possible. I have stayed at the Excelsior several times since 1984 and have never... More

After our sixth stay at The Excelsior we still can't imagine staying anywhere else in Hong Kong. The service is exemplary (no surprise, as it's part of The Mandarin group) and the location is ideal. There's no such thing as bargain accommodation in Hong Kong, but The Excelsior is terrific value for money -- the quality overall is a match... More

This is a corperate hotel which was in a great position for us when we went to the Hong Kong 7's. Easy walking distance. Close to public transport, bars and resturants. The rooms were a good size, clean with daily complimentry water. The breakfast buffet had a vast selection with a dedicated egg chef and the staff were happy and... More

Convenient as it is near malls and MTR. Easy to find food even late in the night. Less than 10-mins taxi ride to HK Station for city check-in. Less than 10 mins walk to Times Square & Wanchai. Interior of rooms looks outdated. Doorman always seem to be busy talking to one another. When i arrived at the hotel from... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
