I have been staying at The Excelsior regularly since 2007. It is a fantastic location easy walking distance to the shopping and restarunats in Causeway Bay, the MTR and a nice view of the harbour from many rooms. But the rooms are well overdue for renovation. Not only do they look dated, they are also getting very worn out. The... More

Located in the central of the Causeway Bay. Can go to grand shopping mall within 1 minute. Convenient to go by MTR, trains and buses. Hotel staff are all helpful and friendly. THe food in 1/F is good and tasty. Beautiful sea view with excellent location.

The Excelsior is ok. Probably better for vacation (due to location) than on business. Facilities are dated. Room smells like cigarette smoke even though it's a non-smoking room. Front desk staff was great. The worst part of my stay was very loud drilling and hammering taking place in the room above in the mid-afternoon when I was trying to work... More

I had stayed in Excelsior on 4 Business trips now, for roughly 60+ nights across this year. From location standpoint the hotel is really good, right in the commercial hub of HK, facing harbour, and 2 mins walk to MTR. Dickens, the hotel bar/restau. is really good, and almost full all the time with decent food options. The breakfast menu... More

This hotel was located at a strategic location surrounded by a shopping malls and restaurants. The most important that the hotel is located 3 mins walking distance from Causeway Bay MTR Station. We walked down to the street at 12am and we still managed to find few restaurant for supper :) The staffs was friendly (especially the lady at FO... More

I was given a room on 19th floor but electric safe in room not worked so they changed me to 21st floor but again safe didn't work also - however I am tired to change room again so not bothered to ask. Booked a body massage but seems the spa's sound proof very poor - there was some loud banging... More

Good location in causeway bay. Plenty to see around the area with shopping and eating. The rooms are a little small commensurate with what you get in hongkong vs the price. Furnishing are a little dated but still comfortable. However the food choices in the hotel are not bad. The egg tarts are very good and if you get tired... More

Wonderful classic Hotel in decor and service. Service in all areas of the hotel was impressive. Lovely dining areas with good food. Room most comfortable and linen of high quality in room and bathroom. Room facilities on Executive level were most comfortable and the upgrade allowed for free wifi and access to Executive lounge to relax in. Well worth the... More

This hotel is great for its location right in Causeway Bay. The room itself is small and stuffy but that's just Hong Kong. Great shopping and restaurants nearby. Restaurants open til late so you can always find something. There is a cafe on the ground floor near the lifts that sells really delicious egg tarts. The hotel staff were friendly... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
