I have been staying here for many years, sometimes for several times a year, and although I have used, over the past 20 years, many other hotels in Hong Kong I find this is the most suitable for me, both for business and pleasure. It is situated close to many shops, the MTR, trams and buses, all of which are... More

I have always chosen the Excelsior hotel when I return to HKG, this is my third visit and I definitely will be back. Super service in all respects and great location. Perfect place to decompress after the long-haul from the States.

Stayed here for 2 nights. I really liked the hotel. The rooms were a little small and the views could have been better. The bedrooms could do with a makeover but the service and the quality of the furnishings were great. I especially like the NT in the drawer which I read with great excitement. Would stay here again.

The Excelsior on Hong Kong Island in the Causeway Bay area is a very professional hotel. Staff is knowledgeable and efficient. Waiting times at check in/out were almost zero. Location is good with easy Metro access to the Island Line. Central is only 3 stops away. Travel from the airport was 40 minutes at 6 AM. The hotel is also... More

Quiet hotel in hot area, walking distance to causeway bay, MTR, Taxi, river, and staff is friendly. Lift is fast and efficent. Breakfast is fresh and delicious, but it seems the choices is limited for people who stay more than 2 nights, suggest to have more HK local food and fruits.

This is where we have always stayed when visiting Hong Kong. The location is great, and there is a free bus from the train station in Central, where the Airport Express drops you off, to the hotel. The hotel is very clean and tidy although the rooms are looking a little tired and dated now. We were fortunate enough to... More

Service staff are very committed and dedicated to their service. Very efficient too. Have stayed in this hotel since the 1980s and still feel very at home with this hotel after all these years. Rooms are clean and amenities are good. Only setback is the high cost of having coffee with some business partners on the 1st floor cafe. Three... More

The rooms were old, moldy and dated. The last renovation was probably 40 years ago and even the furniture looked like it was either acquired at a flea market or a 1970s era night lounge. The carpet was faded, the bathtub didn't drain, and so on. I don't understand how Mandarin Oriental considers its brand 5 stars.

If you want a hotel where they try to treat you like royalty and fawn all over you, you have come to the right spot. If you want a basic hotel with adequate outlets to charge your devices and breakfast included--look elsewhere (Courtyard). The location is close to my office--that is why I stayed there. I moved to the Courtyard... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
