This hotel is right on the water and the views at night are spectacular, especially when a junk sails past! The hotel is also located in a great area with lots and lots of shopping and food locations to choose from. The metro is also very close by and easy to use. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well kept... More

We stayed in the executive area and it was excellent. the staff in the lounge were very helpful and friendly. We stayed here 12 months ago and found it excellent and it still is. Location great in Causeway Bay. Rooms are a little dated and small. Overall we had and excellent stay and we will stay again.

This hotel is strategically located in causeway bay & steps away from shopping & MRT station. I feel secured walking around the hotel area. The staff is friendly & professional, and efficient in dealing. The hotel is very well maintained & clean. Definitely a good choice, fit for purpose & good value of money.

Always enjoyable and a pleasant find. It is located in a nice area for those staying in the Causeway bay area. Located within walking distance of great food ,retail shops and the subway . If you search around the hotel you will find everything you are looking for. No need to leave this area.

Great location on Hong Kong Island. Located near shopping malls, several restaurants within 5 minutes walk as was Causeway Bay MRT station. Fabulous rooms, great atmosphere and food in Dickens Bar and staff were exceptionally helpful throughout our stay. Would recommend this hotel.

Supposedly a classic and 5 star hotel. It was ok - tired and dated... resting on past performance. Nothing wrong or bad, just not the performance or quality of the accommodation as billed, expected or being paid for. Good MTR connections, overall hotel can and should do better.

My family and I have recently retuned from a wonderful holiday and Hong Kong and Japan. We chose The Excelsior, as I had previously stayed at the hotel on business some 20 years ago and was impressed with the location and quality of the room and amenities. I was equally impressed on this visit. Whilst the hotel would benefit from... More

We stayed here for four nights at the start of our vacation, the hotel is in a good location within Causeway Bay close to shopping malls, and all transport links for the city.On arrival the staff on reception were very polite and helpful,as were all the staff we met during our stay. Our room was on the twentieth floor with lovely side views... Despite the age of the hotel and the rooms do look tired from that fact - the hotel staff really made up for it with their outstanding level of service from the doorman, front desk and the support staff. Been a loyal fan for the last 15 years and will continue to be.

Firstly, the good bits. The hotel is in a great location that is undergoing a regeneration with fashion walk shopping nearby. The staff are also extremely helpful and our room a deluxe harbour view was a reasonable size. However the bedroom was definitely a bit tired around the edges and in need of refurbishment; sofa old and saggy, bathroom dated... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
