The Excelsior of the Mandarin Oriental Group on Causeway Bay is a famous name in Hong Kong for its location & service. It is 4-star, more economical than its sister 5-star Hotel in the Central area. But the service standards are similar & very high. Also its location, close to the Causeway Bay MTR station & numerous shopping opportunities nearby,... More

I stayed here for business trip for 3 times already. It only 1 min walk to Metro station and it is really central located. if you are food lover, that is one of the best choice for you to stay. the room itself is big and tidy. it is good for simple stay. the hotel itself is not built in... More

Had not been back here for over 6 years and the place is still as good as ever. Surprisingly most of the staff still recognised me. Very confortable room on the exuctive floor and very good food and beverage outlets. Excellent location and hany to public transport. Not the cheapest hotel around but good quality. On the excutive floor you... More

This is the second time I stayed in The Excelsior. Extremely a convenient location, right in the middle of Causeway bay-one of the most happening places in HK. MTR is just a stone throw away from the hotel. Check in done at a blazing speed. Very courteous staff. The Cafe on the first is very good. I had used the... More

Higher floors have great views of the waterfront and skyline. Hotel facilities still in good shape for an older hotel. Conference rooms and meeting facilities are good and the buffet lunch has plenty of choices but can get super busy. Wish I could have stayed longer

Stayed for five nights-upgraded us for our anniversaries. Cannot fault this hotel-staff always willing to help and the breakfast is beautiful. It is surrounded by many restaurants and very close to the train station. We also booked tours at the tour desk and it all went smoothly.

The hotel has perfect location, but the room is very very dated. The room is spacious and the bed is big and comfortable. The bathroom is very old fashioned and the hotel needs urgently a make over. The staff are helpful and friendly. Breakfast is good. There are more newer hotels in Hong Kong and prefer staying in newer ones.

I first stayed at the Excelsior about 40 years ago. Like an old friend, she has grown older and is showing her age. Still, I love her convenient location, her gorgeous harbour view and her high level of service.

The Excelsior Hotel is a great hotel. It is known for its service – not for its new rooms or fancy stuff… We have stayed in the excelsior several times before; 10 times to be exact. We are very happy with the friendliness of the staff. When we arrived this time we were given a room with a bad toilet.... More

Excelsior has the great location which you just need few minutes walk to reach the MTR station and as well as Times Square. I stayed here for 2 nights & was given a harbour view room on 21st floor. Staffs are very helpful especially from the reception, concierge and as well as the duty manager who assisted me to move... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
