We booked the hotel online on a platform where you do not know before which hotel you book. It was a surprise but not a nice one... When arriving you will get an odd smell right in your face: sewage and drainage. The staff was absolutely not passionate and it felt like you were in a hostel (whereas people would... More

The Vela was an OK stay for my husband and I. It's a good location and our room overlooked the race course which was quite nice. We were a bit annoyed about an unnecessary room change due to "maintenance" needed on our room - only to find out our original room was given to other guests on the very same... More

This hotel offers average accomodation. The room we stayed in had a double bed and provided the basic necessary requirements - TV, Mini bar fridge that is not stocked and wifi facilities. The bathroom is good but has glass doors and partitions which does not provide privacy if you are staying with family. The only extra we found was a... More

Given I am on a budget, I was recommended this property by a lady who works in travel. Whilst the location is a little out of the way, its an easy 15 minute walk to the MTR or Tram Station. Staff extremely professional and polite. The rooms are fine, although there are certainly not enough power points and I did... More

Was there from 09 - 11 Mar 2015. 1. Check in/Check Out: Until I check-in a staff of reception which is a male call Tony and Baggio were very polite and friendly. Check-out they making a big smile for me.This is great. 2. Location: Considered as good as it is about 5-10 minutes walk to the Times Square. 3. Room:... More

This is a 1-2 star hotel at best. In the basic room (Lino floor) there is a long list of what you will be charged for breaking items - never seen this before. A coat hanger fell apart so this is likely to cost me $20. To top it off I lost my room key so was charged $100 to... More

By western standards, this is a 2-3 star hotel. Once you lower your expectations to that level, it's not too bad. The drawbacks = rooms are quite shabby - very dusty with stains on the walls - and the hall carpets were filthy. The advantages = staff were friendly (although gave us a lot of wrong information about the local... More

I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights last June 2014 for business purposes, my room is much bigger compare of what I expected and it has a balcony. They provide a shuttle service from hotel to airport, vice versa but you need to book first for the availability of shuttle. This hotel has a great location with reasonable price... More

This hotel is a good value hotel, not too far from the wild time that is Wan Chai and CWB. The service is excellent and attentive, however the room is ageing but very clean. The sheets were sometimes a little ripped, however this seems to be an issue affecting a lot of non European hotels at the moment.

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
