Given I am on a budget, I was recommended this property by a lady who works in travel. Whilst the location is a little out of the way, its an easy 15 minute walk to the MTR or Tram Station. Staff extremely professional and polite. The rooms are fine, although there are certainly not enough power points and I did... More

Was there from 09 - 11 Mar 2015. 1. Check in/Check Out: Until I check-in a staff of reception which is a male call Tony and Baggio were very polite and friendly. Check-out they making a big smile for me.This is great. 2. Location: Considered as good as it is about 5-10 minutes walk to the Times Square. 3. Room:... More

This is a 1-2 star hotel at best. In the basic room (Lino floor) there is a long list of what you will be charged for breaking items - never seen this before. A coat hanger fell apart so this is likely to cost me $20. To top it off I lost my room key so was charged $100 to... More

By western standards, this is a 2-3 star hotel. Once you lower your expectations to that level, it's not too bad. The drawbacks = rooms are quite shabby - very dusty with stains on the walls - and the hall carpets were filthy. The advantages = staff were friendly (although gave us a lot of wrong information about the local... More

I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights last June 2014 for business purposes, my room is much bigger compare of what I expected and it has a balcony. They provide a shuttle service from hotel to airport, vice versa but you need to book first for the availability of shuttle. This hotel has a great location with reasonable price... More

This hotel is a good value hotel, not too far from the wild time that is Wan Chai and CWB. The service is excellent and attentive, however the room is ageing but very clean. The sheets were sometimes a little ripped, however this seems to be an issue affecting a lot of non European hotels at the moment.

The hotel is significantly cheaper than any decent accommodation (not hostel) around the Wanchai area. It isn't fancy, but good enough for a short stay. Rooms are average size for HK, bathroom is clean and you get free drinks (water, coffee, tea) and snacks inside the room's minibar. I stayed at a double room with two twin beds. They were... More

Have to say that the choice of this hotel was because it is very well located for us, as we use to have several meetings per year, just near by. Before we used Charterhouse as our base in HKG, but a trial with Vela was very convincing, rooms are slightly bigger than the Charterhouse, and we felt OK, we use... More

This hotel clearly needs to be reviewed by the travel business. Our room was far too small for two adults, the air conditioning was faulty and was not dealt with during our stay. The hotel had planned maintenance on one lift while we were there and all guests over all 12 floors had to endure using one lift for five... More

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
