Just weird really, checked in, paid, and then was directed to one of the upper floors, which was just an apartment room with an unmade, dirty bunk bed, asked to be moved because I'm travelling alone and would rather be in a dorm room to actually meet people, the member of staff was extremely confused as to why I would... First of all it's all about location, location, location. This hostel is brilliantly located in Causeway Bay. Very convenient for the subway and ease of access to and from the excellent Hong Kong airport. I took a private room with ensuite which is ok for 1 person but too tight for anymore. Staff were polite and helpful. Great shops, grocery... More

Don't go here if you need wifi. The wifi doesnt reach to the room, and if you are lucky enough to be connected to the wifi in the reception area be prepared for the wifi to diconnect again. It is horrible. Also no aircon in the reception area so too hot to be stressing about the wifi. Rooms are very... More

It's a hostel so you know it's not gonna be flash. I traveled to Hong Kong from Singapore with 2 mates so we didn't really care where we stayed. Positives; the hostel is in a good location, buses and the MTR are very close so it is easy to get anywhere you want in the city or Kowloon. The room... More

As a first timer to Hong Kong but not first timer to international travel, (collectively the three of us had stayed in 7 African National, Turkey, New Zealand and Korea and I currently live in Shanghai China) we were unimpressed with the hostel but it served its purpose. We booked through Hostelworld.com and by the reviews it was rated pretty... More

The hostel is not all in one building. it is separated. it's a bit difficult to meet people unless you hang out in reception all day. I thought the place we clean when I first arrived but then the shower broke and was constantly leaking. we notified them 3 times and it was never fixed and the water leaked into... More

I was almost tempted to give them 2 stars, but i gave one more star becuz of the location. The reason that i choose this hostel is the location. It's just located on Causeway Bay MTR. It was quite convenient to looking around Hong Kong's tourist attractions. Receptionists are not that friendly and helpful, but i know that i can't... More

We thought we would rough it for a couple of nights, it did the job (just)!! Very weird set up, we were taken to a residential block to stay, this is actually an illegal set up there is a notice to say that it is forbidden and you can be removed by the authorities at any time!!! The rooms are... More

The location of this hostel is perfect, it has MTR, supermarket, eateries, tram stop, taxi stand, money changers, chemist and Big Bus stop on its doorstep, none of them further than a 3 min walk. Also it is a safe location, even if you come late at night. The hostel itself seemed to be safe as well. But the room... More

Good place to stay while in Hong Kong. The location is ideal because it is a 2min walk to the MTR. I've stayed here every time I visit Hong Kong. Both dorms and private rooms are really good and clean. Good for backpackers, dont expect too much. The staff is nice and helpfull!

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
