I stayed at Ashoka Hostel in the famous Chung King Mansion at Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui Hongkong and when everyone hears about Chung King Mansion, they usually well had bad comments. But honestly, it's not that pretty bad. The location is superb! You're in the middle of Hongkong Island and Kowloon Island where it's the best location that you... More

We were staying in Ashoka Hostel for New Year. I booked a room in another hostel via AGODA but they were sorry to say that the hostel was full and rebooked this one.The hostel is situated right in the centre of Hong Kong. Go by subway to Tsim Sha Tsui station, Exit C and when you exit right on the... More

So... the Ashoka served a purpose and gave my sweet heart and I a place to stay in the heat of it during our New Year celebration. However, the amenities are scarce and the building is a little on the sketchy side (a trip down porn alley each time we headed back added to the excitement!). The room wasn't terribly... More

I will start with the only positive which is the location. It is near the harbour and Mtr which is really handy. Now.... Expect hawkers to hassle you every day going in and out of the place. There is only one lift and you will have to queue for it every time. Our room was nothing like the pictures. It... More

We stayed at Ashoka Hotel from Nov. 26-30, 2014. The room is small but it has its own bathroom with a heater. The beds are bunk beds. The room was clean, but when my friend inspected her bed, she noticed some stray hair underneath the pillow. Eeew! I inspected my bed and also found some strands of hair. Double eew!... More

I stayed at Ashoka Guest house for a couple of days. It was very clean, the in house staff was very cooperative. As I'm just visiting this place for business, I approached the reception guys about most favourable places to look around Hong Kong and they were really nice and friendly while suggesting me some good places. I would certainly... More

I stayed 1 night there before i left hongkong. You have to wait for the elevator for a long time. In this building are around 15 guesthouses. At night are a lot of drugdealers around the area. The rooms are very tiny and the restrooms are a mess! I would everyone recommend not going there!!! Worst place i ever stayed!

I stayed for three-nights in a four-bed dormitory. It was a submarine-like experience. To access to upper level of the hostel bunk bed I had to place one step on a stack of safes ment to serve as lockers between the cellphone charges of the other guests, grab the board on the edge of the bed and place a second... Everyone knows Chungking Mansion is one of the well-known accommodation for the people who would like to save money. If anyone will stay at there, I recommend them to go to Ashoka by the following reasons. 1. low cost (around 20USD/night) 2. good free wifi access condition 3. not so dirty and very few insects (mostly clean) 4. hot shower... I decided to try this guest house based on the previous helpful reviews which gave it a reasonable rating. I've stayed at two other 1 star hotels/guest houses in HK before and been disappointed each time, but the lack of availability in my usual hotel and good rating here pursuaded me to give this a try. I booked a room... More
