I wasn't impressed with this particular hostel, to be honest. After experiencing how good hostels can be in Xi'an and Chengdu, this was a bit of a let down. First, a horrible location. You have to either get a taxi or find your way through slums to a centre of town. Which could be an authentic experience in itself, though.... More

Stayed at this hostel for 4 nights and felt like it was the real China - not the glitzy high end shopping mall city. It's down on the Yangtze River waterfront surrounded by local street markets and an almost constant movement of warehouse imports/ exports on the street by porters ferrying the goods up and down steep steps. Firstly. I... More

Location - as others have said, slightly difficult to find. Taxi driver wasn't sure even with the map provided. We paid 20rmb for taxi from jangkou metro. The driver started at 30 so we thought it was a good deal, but prob wasn't. We weren't sure it was the right hostel as the big sign says 'travelling with hostel' however... More

We had a nice stay in this hostel in Downtown Chongqing. The staff is really friendly and speaks a decent amount of English, so they will be able to help you with any requests for your further travels. The communal area is nicely decorated and they have also a pooltable. You can get some Western and Chinese food. The dormroom... More

Folk may tell you Chongqing is one of the most gross metropolises on the planet. Maybe something in that; yet I find this: Chongqing has bags of character in various places (where Beijing & Shanghai are sadly lacking). This hostel is a great hotpot example. Locals call it the Mountain City (it's not) and there are a lot of confusing... More

In a very interesting position and in a well converted old wooden building next to the Huguang Guild Hall and beside the Yangtze. It sits below a colossal new bridge that spans the whole of central Chongqing. The food and ambience here are great, the tour services tailored to the Chinese and definitely not recommended. The trendy City area is... More

Because it is a tip in the lonely planet, we definitely expected too much. One of our beds was directly under the AC. It wasn't possible to sleep there and they couldn't offer any other options. the room and floors are smelly and it wasn't really clean. the stuff was ok. the only good thing is the location.

The lady we spoke to was really helpful. She offered us water as soon as we sat down. She showed us several options for the Yangtze River cruise and there was no hard sell. She gave frank and honest advice. She let us leave our belongings in the store room even though we didn't stay in the hostel, and walked... More

I don't normally take the time to write bad reviews, but I strongly feel like there are much better places to stay. I understand that bad experiences are often an anomaly, so I'll attempt to state facts and leave out subjectiveness. I arrived in Chongqing after a delayed flight. I managed to get to the hostel after the taxi driver... More

We stayed here several times three years ago and it was great, however we returned recently and it was absolutely awful. The staff were rude and unhelpful, the manager was not just actively unhelpful but deliberately rude and racist against several of our party. The accommodation was poor and overcharged. Our whole experience was not just poor but actively dreadful.... More
