We stayed here last September and overall, the best thing about this small B&B courtyard inn is the owner/manager who is super friendly, kind and helpful. The 2nd thing is probably the location although we did not make full use of it as we only stayed for one nite. The small double room we had (which I hope is fixed... More

Enjoyed our 6 night stay with family in 3 of the 5 rooms-very relaxed and an intimate experience of Hutong living. The rooms were basic but clean and beds were comfy with own bathrooms. The location was excellent-2 min walk from Metro and next to police station-we felt so safe! Highlight was the was yummy breakfast and noodle stalls close... More

We really enjoyed the fact that we were staying in a quirky courtyard hotel in a Hutong. The location was ideal, close to the Metro and to the Forbidden City etc. Yang, the owner was really very attentive and helpful and always available to assist us. There were a table and chairs in the courtyard and it was nice to... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in February, 2012. Rooms are small but cozy. Young, the manager, was helpful and very accomodating. He took us around the block to a great place for steamed dumplings, arranged for a taxi to the airport at 5 am and arranged tours to the Great Wall and to an acrobatic show. The acrobatic show... "Welcome!" Every time we arrived or returned to the Inn, Young, the Inn's Manager greeted us with sincere grace. He is an exceptional young man, committed to making every visitor's stay comfortable and memorable. His local knowledge is invaluable. As many Beijingers do not read maps Young's directions and recommendations made exploring this fabulous city so much easier. The Inn... More

Emperor's Guard Courtyard hotel is a friendly and quiet place, within easy walking to the Dongdan metro station. The owner Young Zhang is very helpful - he speaks good English and seems to be forever on hand if you have any questions. I was there with my 10year old daughter and the free wifi was great for her! The courtyard... More

Both the hotel and the owner are awesome. For quite a reasonable price we got a nice room in chinese style, having everything you really need + a very nice host, who is always there, willing to help you and answer all the questions. I think that the hotel is a nice option for everyone looking not only for the... More

This courtyard hotel is very cute and the service was beyond excellent. After exploring Beijing we perhaps would have opted for accommodation nearer North Dongcheng than Dongdam. But we were ultimately pleased with our choice, and getting around via cab or metro in Beijing is pretty straightforward. For an insight into Chinese culture and the best possible assistance from staff... More

We enjoyed staying here so much we extended our stay for an extra two nights. The best thing about this hotel is the location in an unpretentious and genuine hutong, completely unlike the commercial ones that have been tarted up with poncy coffee bars. The hutong has lots of great and cheap restaurants with staff who made the effort to... More
