We stayed here for a couple of nights while in Beijing. The hotel is a converted old building but has all the necessary conveniences including western style toilets. It is in the old part of Beijing in a quiet alley and fairly close to the subway stations. The breakfast is pretty good and includes Chinese and western food. The staff... More

This is one of the coolest hotels I have stayed in a long time in terms of overall experience. In Beijing to see the Great Wall, this hotel was just the icing on the cake. LOVED IT! Very cool "Chinese" traditional decoration and hospitality. The staff (especially Shelley!) were super nice, very friendly and helped us (a group of 5... More

Having travelled widely (family and business) all over the world for the last 30+ years, I have stayed in a lot of hotels - some great, some (not many) awful - but this one is my absolute favourite of them all. It is located in one of the few hutongs (alleyways) in Beijing to be spared the wrecking ball. You... More

I really enjoyed the location in the hutongs of Dongsi. Very different from staying in a hotel on a main street, so removed from everyday life. They upgraded me to a Wedding Suite. Sadly my wife wasn’t able to come along and enjoy it with me. The bed was fantastic! Soft and firm with good pillows. Very different from other... More

We had a lovely time in Beijing at this hotel. It was a great experience being in the hutong and the hotel staff were amazing - very helpful with directions, advice, etc and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was a treat trying the various pastries and dumplings. Room was extremely comfortable and charmingly decorated. Just wonderful. We are so glad we... More

We stayed at the Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel for 5 days after a 13-hour flight from Canada. Loved the location and really enjoyed being part of daily life in the Hutong. All if the staff were extremely helpful, special mention to Shelley, Jaclyn, Michael for their help with computer access, restaurant recommendations and for the bottle of champagne when they... Clean, comfortable rooms with a different flair ( Chinese furniture and art decorations), nice courtyard, good breakfast and nice food in the restaurant, very friendly staff! Had insisted on staying there against suggestion of our Chines business partner. We are glad we did and found this nice place instead of the boring big hotel chains!

We only booked one night in this quaint, traditional accommodation in the hutong (old town) area but would certainly recommend a longer stay. It's a little hard to find, tucked away down a laneway but well worth the search. The staff were wonderful: friendly and efficient. It was a great place to explore - lots of interesting photos and artefacts... More

Normally - as you could see from my previous reviews of hotels in Beijing, I stay at some swanky place, or boutique hotel. But this time, this place caught my eye. The price is so good, and the photos looked great... So, picked up by Emirates car at the airport - they all looked a little puzzled...why would I be... More

We arrived here late at night and were a bit worried when we went down a dark alley to get here. The staff were extremely helpful and the rooms were lovely and quaint, only problem was the street it was down other than that was a lovely place and the staff could not of been any more helpful.
